Those guys are HUGE. And Shaq is huger. His feet are enormous!
It was very loud, but that's because the Suns led from beginning to end, sometimes by as much as 30 points. Josh & I agreed that it's very different seeing an NBA game in person, besides seeing how big those players are and the noise. The game seems to go faster, but that's probably because you don't have to watch any commercials. The court seems a LOT smaller, the guys seem even quicker, and there are interesting things to see away from what the cameras show.
During one time out the cheerleaders and the Suns Gorilla came out and tossed Suns T-Shirts into the stands. I got the attention of one of the cheerleaders and she threw me a shirt. It went right through my hands...right through my hands!...and into the lap of a guy in the row behind us. Everybody around me gave me grief.
I deserved it.
How lame!
I enjoyed church this morning. We were missing some people who were out of town for the weekend, but that's OK. I think our worship was genuine and our look at Ps. 107 went well. Not because the preacher did such a bang-up job but because we ended by giving people an opportunity to tell their own heilsgeschicte (the theme of Ps. 107), and few things compare to hearing how God has worked within people to bring them to the point of salvation.
I told them I used to think someone telling their "testimony" was about them - kind of egocentric. But Ps. 107 says that a testimony is really a story (or should be a story) that focuses our attention on God and his grace in our lives. That's what it was this morning.
Birds sing when the sun comes up, right? Not here. At our house they sing when the sun goes down. I don't know what kind of birds they are but they sound like they could be from the Amazon jungle. They make a wide variety of very melodic noises. For a few more weeks we can have the windows open at night (we'll use the AC 24/7 soon enough) and I like laying in bed and listening to the birds sing.
It's Sunday night and instead of my nap I went to a b'ball game. Which is to say I've just exhausted my rational thought for the day.
Goodnight.
