I miss the violent spring storms of west Michigan, so this is nice.
An older gentleman goes to the doctor to talk about his wife.
"What's the problem with her?" the doctor asks.
"Her hearing seems to be deteriorating very quickly," the man replies.
"OK," the doc says, "try this experiment. Stand behind her 15 feet away and say something. If she doesn't hear you, move 5 feet closer and try again. If she still doesn't hear you move in another 5 feet and try it. This will give us an idea just how bad her hearing is."
So the man goes home and later that day walks into the kitchen. He stands 15' behind her and, in a normal voice says, "What's for dinner?"
Nothing.
So he moves to 10'. "What's for dinner."
Still nothing.
He moves to 5' behind her and tries again, still with no response.
Finally he walks up to her and right over her shoulder says, "What's for dinner?"
She turns around and says, "For the fourth time, beef stew!"
I worked on church stuff today. Did the bulletin, worked on my sermon, my Foundations lesson, and then went up the street and sat in Paradise with an orange muffin (my favorite there) and cranked out another Confirmation lesson. I could have and should have accomplished more than that but for whatever reason my brain didn't feel a lot like focusing today. It better feel like it tomorrow morning because my sermon is a long way from done!
Late last week Sam's Club sent me an email that said the chairs would show up in 2-3 weeks and that we'd get a phone call to schedule delivery because a signature was required.
Pam came home from errands yesterday to find three big boxes sitting in front of the garage. And I got a letter saying our application for purchasing as a non-profit lacked proper documentation. They didn't say what was lacking, just that something was.
More reasons not to do business with Sam and his cadre (not that I needed them).
Today I learned that Delaware is named after Thomas West, the 3rd Baron De La Warr. He is also the man after whom West Point is named. But West Point is in New York, which seems rather odd. And the original commander of the Academy was Benedict Arnold, who later married Rosanne Barr.
(I'm not sure about that last part.)
If you get the Speed channel look for Formula 1 racing on the schedule this weekend. They're racing on the streets of Monaco, pretty exciting stuff. Practice is Friday, qualifying Saturday and the race Sunday, all carried live on Speed.
