I took a creative writing class many years ago and one of our assignments was to write a poem that took the form of a list. That's the kind of poetry I don't get; I think poetry should, in all but rare cases, rhyme. But I got an A on that one so apparently I can fake it.
Every once in awhile I think about that assignment and make lists in my head, and today was one of those days. I thought about things I miss. This doesn't follow the form and structure we had to use for the assignment; it's just a list.
I miss:
Cars with wind wings
Having a vegetable garden
Running
Push button light switches
The classroom
Singing in a choral group
What do you miss?
Would you walk across this bridge?
This morning Cheryle and I went through the vacant rental house. Sometime between now and this weekend when she gets it on MLS I'll go in and shampoo the carpets, paint one of the bedrooms, clean the kitchen and remove/clean all the vents.
This afternoon I tried to figure out some electrical issues at K's house but w/o success. The breaker isn't tripped but there's no power to the outlets. Hmmmm.
Then I spent a little over two hours ripping up carpet and padding, and removing tack strips at the double-wide where I'm laying vinyl. The last three rolls will come in the end of this week or the first of next and I'll put it down in the hallway, two bedrooms and two bathrooms (the tear-out I did today).
I came home pooped. But thankful for the work.
Tomorrow's primaries in Illinois and North Carolina will either mark the end of Hillary Clinton's campaign or drive this thing all the way to the convention. I'm enjoying watching this one.
Sometimes you'll get yourself in a spot. Often it will be a predicament of your own making.

A few of the things I've been missing:
Peanut Butter and Cheese
Consistent sleep
Running (we have that in common)
Family
Listening to grown up music in the car
Taking my time when running errands/shopping
The smell of Flagstaff (and soon...the cool summer weather there)
