Pam didn't get to play dead today. She got to the hospital only to find out the drill had been canceled. They just forgot to tell the patient. Her death has been re-scheduled for next Tuesday.
The Major League Players' Union has asked the commissioner's office to investigate possible collusion by the owners against Barry Bonds. Here's the deal. The S.F. Giants decided not to re-sign Barry last year, which meant he became a free agent, open to sign with any team that wanted him. Barry sat by the phone, but alas, no offers came. So the union's lawyer thinks that the owners got together and agreed that none of them would offer Mr. Hat Size 9 a job. That would violate the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Player's Union and the owners.
I have no idea if the owners colluded or not. But if I were an owner I'd look at a guy who is 43 years old, moves at the speed of snail and is under federal indictment for perjury in the steroids probe, and figure I could find a better way to spend anything over $10.75.
More things I miss:
Mr. Rogers
Cars with chrome
The cafeteria
Phone numbers with prefixes (Dexter 1646)
My Michigan peeps
I'm no Tim Russert, but I think Obama has it locked up at this point. Even if she wins Indiana, by no means a certainty, he just proved he can win a big state, and he's widened his delegate lead. Hillary may get her stubborn on but that doesn't change the fact that it's now game over. My guess is that beginning tomorrow morning some party heavyweights will be leaning on her to withdraw sooner rather than later, and more key Democratic figures will openly declare for Obama.
In a way, what happens over the next week or two will say more about Hillary than anything we've seen thus far. I think we could see some real parallels to Barry, Clemens and their ilk - an amazing ability to deny reality when it doesn't suit their construct.
What would you do if somebody stole something from you? What if it was something that had no particular monetary value, but it was yours and they took it? Does principle matter?
