I'm bothered that no one in the media or interviewed by the media seems bothered by the content of the hit movie, "Sex and the City." It's getting such universal and uncompromising accolades that I'm almost afraid bring it up in conversation, lest the person I'm talking with tell me they've seen the movie. I haven't seen, and won't see it. I've never seen the TV show. But it's pretty clear from the buzz, never mind the title, that the subject matter is base and profane. Why don't we hear anything about that? Why isn't anyone in the media at least pointing out that the subject matter is "adult theme" or offensive to some?
I may need to revise my prediction that Hillary will drop out Wednesday. Her campaign manager was pretty defiant at Saturday's meeting to sort out the delegate issue. And she won big in Puerto Rico today. A win was a given, but the margin was larger than expected, and she won segments of the electorate that Obama typically takes.
Politicians are known for sounding bound and determined to soldier on one day, and then dropping out the next. They never betray anything less than 100% commitment until their press conference where they say they're done. So Hillary's post-primary affirmations may be meaningless. But I wonder if the P.R. win has emboldened her to press on. Maybe she's as bad at math as I.
I really dislike the consumerism and the commercialization so common in today's American church. I sense way too much emphasis on nickels, numbers and noise. So I hesitate to say anything or write anything about how Pathway is doing, lest I be guilty of reducing God's church to the level of a business enterprise.
(You can see the "but" coming, can't you.)
But we've been praying - and some of you have been praying - that God will bless Pathway Bible Church and cause it to grow in every sense. Our small group began this effort in January believing that the west valley needed a church that was biblical both in structure and focus. We agreed at the time that we weren't doing this just for our benefit, but for those who, if they knew what church could be, would want the same thing for themselves and their children.
God seems to be answering those prayers. I say, "seems" because I do NOT want to be guilty of the sin of presumption. But two new families are attending Pathway. And this morning another family came at the invitation of one of our original attenders. That in itself is an encouragement, because nobody decides to call Pathway their church home until they first visit.
So tonight this wiped out preacher is feeling very good about God's blessing. I am blessed to have started with a great group of committed adults and their adorable kids. After meeting in the home of one of the couples (no small inconvenience to them) God led us to an ideal site for this next stage. And the new families fit in perfectly; they're just as terrific and their kids just as cute.
"Every good and perfect gift comes from above" James 1:17.
T'ank you, Fadder!
P.S. Please feel free to continue praying for God's blessing on Pathway!!

I went out and bought a '62 Plymouth so I could learn how to cook tender and juicy bone-in chuck steaks using it's intake manifold since in yesterday's post you said you'd cover that issue in to today's post. You completely forgot and now I'm forced to still do salmon on the manifold of my '92 Ford F250. C'mon - my family wants to enjoy tender red meat again. Give us the secret or I'll be forced to sell the Plymouth for a porkchop-cooking '61 New Yorker. :-) cyb
