"I thought I was in a bad mood but it's been several years now, so I guess this is who I am."
I think I had a good day. I met with one of my guys early this morning (6 a.m.) and by 11 a.m. he was set up in a mentor relationship with a H.S. kid from a pretty dysfunctional home. It's another piece of fruit from my efforts as a mentor and I like the symmetry of one of my mentees (yep, that's a real word) now mentoring someone else.
I also got clarity on a couple of things within my areas of responsibility that help me move forward.
A good workout at the gym. I'm almost back to where I was before I left for Phoenix.
And I'm halfway through the first "one cheat per week" routine (I fell off that wagon on the same Phx trip). Friday I'll go into town with Pam. She'll do the grocery shopping while I camp out at Dizzy's Donuts with my laptop, a cup of coffee, and one of their monster cinnamon rolls.
Speaking of, I just backed a pan of cinnamon rolls. I'm going to take them around the corner from our offices to the PT clinic I went to. I haven't been in to visit them in almost a month so this is a peace offering. I felt like baking, wanted to visit them, shouldn't have those in the house, so it's all good.
We're supposed to get 2-3" of snow Saturday night. We might need that 4 wheel drive the Blazer has.
I now have all the necessary docs and no good reason not to do our taxes. This is the first year since we retired that we need to file, and the only reason for doing so this year is that the church withheld taxes from my paycheck and we will get that money back. I only worked there two months of 2018 but it's still enough to get me to wrestle through what is, in my opinion, the third circle of hell.
I have two appointments tomorrow, the second at noon. We're meeting at Baja Fresh, one of our favorite restaurants that we went to while living in AZ. Pam's jealous I get to go there.
The key word is Fresh. All of their ingredients are fresh and they make up your food after you order. It's "Mexican," but just barely.
I'm headed to bed. It's been a long day and my first meeting is at 7:30. That means I have to be up and started at 4:00 to get everything done so I can leave home by 6:45.
G'night.
