If you say "gullible" slowly it sounds like "oranges."
I didn't have anything to say yesterday.
You're right; that doesn't typically stop me, but sometimes the strange an unusual happens.
It was snowing when I got up at 3:30 and kept snowing for the next three or four hours. We lost our internet every 30 minutes unless I went out to the end of the driveway and cleaned off the satellite dish. The power quit briefly a couple of times just long enough to make all the digital clocks blink. And it was cold. Shortly afternoon we got rid of everything but the cold.
How many cars can you think of named after animals?
Cougar, Impala, Beetle.....
How come they never named a car after a fish? Or an amphibian?
Plymouth Coho, Ford Frog, Pontiac Pike....
Now they don't give them names at all, just a sequence of meaningless letters and numbers. How boring.
The state of Oregon just released a study saying growers are producing twice as much marijuana as is being consumed. They just can't figure out what to do about that. One option is to let market forces do their thing with excess growers going out of business until a supply/demand balance is reached. The problem is that the extra is going to the black market and sold in states where it's not legal.. One of the growers interviewed on the local news tonight said that will continue until other states get on board and legalize pot, too. Then they can all overproduce.
I had WAY too much content for my class this morning and decided to solve that problem by talking at 250 mph. But they were great, clearly hung in there, and seemed pleased at the end when I noted that we made it all the way through. A couple of them clapped.
A couple of things: I think there's a real hunger for learning the Bible and I don't think it's unique to UFC. They're also willing to do the work to learn. They take notes and as an indication of how much the world has changed several of them take pictures of the screen with their cell phones to record the info projected there. Crazy.
This afternoon I ordered all the supplies to replace the passenger side floor plan in Sally - the pan, the adhesive and special applicator, and seam sealer. Because I'm too tight to pay for quick shipping it won't all be here for another 10 days but I've got more time than money.
It's supposed to rain over an inch per day for most of the week so it's indoor weather anyway.
The good news: in Seattle that precip is going to be snow and I live in Oregon.
I got more good feedback on my sermon from last Sunday. Apparently people have been talking about peirasmos all week.
And more than one person scolded me for having a cookie before the service.
However!...doing nothing different except restricting myself to one cheat (that giant cinnamon roll on Friday) resulted in me dropping a pound and half last week. I'll be back where I belong in no time.
Brett connected me with a guy a few years younger than me who lives here in Veneta. He used to be the janitor at the big Baptist church in town but his Parkinson's got too much for that role. I'm going to visit him when I get off work tomorrow. He's a car guy and drives an early Miata that he has seriously upgraded and turned into performer. Brett said he's removed every extra bit of anything to get the weight down and added performance upgrades. And there are plenty of them for getting extra oomph out of the engine.
He said I could drive it. But if it's raining half as hard as they say it will be I'll have to...take a rain check.
