It's almost that time

Here's one you can do with your younger children. Or grandkids

The time is almost upon us. We've all felt the anticipation growing for this, our most favorite season of the year.... the season of lists. Yes, it's time to acknowledge the greatest, the biggest and the most of 2007. Are you ready? Because this is something we can all do for ourselves. No reason to let the TV stations, magazines and newspapers have all the fun. We can each make our own. But the first step is to decide what lists need to be created. Only then can you decide what should be on those lists.
I've been thinking about the lists I need to create, and my list of lists is beginning to take shape:
  1. The top 10 things I didn't do this year.
  2. My 5 favorite country western songs of 2007
  3. Biggest weather stories from the Phoenix area
  4. States that end with the letter R
I'm leaving very early Monday morning for Seattle. My younger brother Mark will pick me up at the airport and drive me to their cabin where I'll spend the week working on a variety of projects. Some electrical, some plumbing, some indoor and some outdoor - if the weather cooperates. The cabin is right on Puget Sound and fairly isolated. A beautiful setting! This time of year I'll have the place to myself except for the wildlife. But not to worry, Google says there's a coffee shop/bakery just a few miles away with free wi-fi, so I shouldn't miss a post. And I'm taking my digital camera so I should be able to post some terrific pics.
I'll also have time for writing. I'm making good progress on the curriculum, but Joshua has fallen by the wayside. The plan is to get up early each morning, get the coffee pot going, and settle in with one or the other project.
Friday I'll go to my folks' and attend the memorial service for Wilson that afternoon. Family is coming in from around the country, which is why the service is this late in the week. I'll spend the weekend with my folks and then return on Monday.

I really tired. We spent the evening at J&A's where we all had pizza, and after the kids went to bed played some card game where, it turns out, the goal is not to get the highest number of points. If they had told me that at the beginning I would have whooped them all. So now it's creeping up on midnight, and if I ever had anything clever to say it went to bed a long time ago. I may as well go join it.
