Totally Random redux

A psych prof at Temple University has just finished work on a brief for the govt. about the teenage brain. This is going to shock you! Turns out the teenage brain is still maturing and hasn't developed good judgment and reasoning skills yet. Wow! Imagine that! But wait; there's more! They are also more susceptible to outside pressures and influences, including peer pressure.
Aren't you glad somebody is doing this kind of research for us? Where would we be without it?

Damon Jones is getting just over $4 million a year in a four-year contract to play basketball for the Cleveland Cavaliers. On Christmas Day the Cavs were beating the Miami Heat, and the coach told Jones to enter the game for the last minute of play. Jones refused. He said later that he wasn't loose enough to play, that he always plays with a 100% effort, and doing that when you're not ready to enter the game can result in pulling something. Presumably if he had been told to enter the game in the second quarter he would have been loose enough.
At $4 mil a year for playing a game he isn't loose? I'm thinking something needs to be pulled, alright.

If you've been reading this blog for awhile you may remember the bar owner in downtown Scottsdale that got sued for asking a patron to leave his restaurant. The patron was a cross-dresser, and female patrons were complaining about the person using their restroom standing up.
The case was recently settled out of court when the owner put in a unisex restroom.
Today that same owner announced that the bar is going through its own change, re-opening this weekend as a place catering to the gay/lesbian/transgender/transsexual (have I left anybody out?) community.
I have NO idea what you do for restrooms in that case. Do you? Think about it! How do you even come up with the right signs to put on the doors?

Before she left this morning I asked Pam if there was anything she wanted me to do today. She said no, so I told her I'd remodel the kitchen. Her response: "Just so long as you have it cleaned up by the time I get home."
I have it cleaned up.
I didn't do a complete remodel; just replaced all the trim and baseboards. When I painted the living room, and then when I did the dining area remodel I replaced all the narrow, dated trim moldings. I stopped where the dining area meets the kitchen because I knew I was going to paint the kitchen. I did that a couple of months ago and never got around to doing the trim, so that was today's task.
Grrrrrr.
In the time since I did the dining area both Lowe's and Home Depot have changed their source for trim molding. As a result neither now carries a 4-1/2" base or a 3-1/2" trim. Now it's 4-1/4" and 3-1/4". So where today's work meets the earlier work the match is wrong.
Oh yeah, Lowe's still had at least one piece of the old size in stock, a fact which I only discovered after I had installed it in the middle of the kitchen.
It's all primed; I'll paint tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow night we're going to dinner with Steve & Michelle at P.F. Changs' - our expression of gratitude for his help getting me back from Vegas a couple of weeks ago when I got sick. Then we're going to hear B.B. King in concert, their treat. How cool is that?! I don't know if I'll post before or after the concert, but you'll hear about it eventually. He is one of my favorites and opportunities to hear him must be nearing an end. He's getting old and suffers from advanced diabetes. But he can still make Lucille sing!

Flomax was a major sponsor of this afternoon's Champs Bowl. No wonder Michigan State kept running and running and running. But they just couldn't get it going and lost 24-21 to Boston College.

Academy - a modern school where football is taught.
