If you can't convince them, confuse them.

The good news is that I had a perfectly boring day.
Pam dropped me off at the Phoenix airport a little before 5:00 a.m. so she could turn around and be to work by 7:00. I spent the next 5 hours reading, writing, and taking advantage of the free wi-fi at the Phoenix airport. At 10:30 my flight left for Minneapolis and everything went smoothly. No signs of any physical issues at all.
An hour layover in Minneapolis and then the 90 minute flight to Grand Rapids. I got in here at 5:00, and it's COLD!!
But again, I didn't have any trouble and for that I am very thankful!!

So just a few observations from my boring day:
1. Airports are great places to people-watch and eavesdrop on cell phone conversations.
2. I started reading The Scarlet Pimpernel and got about 1/2 way through the book. It's a classic first published in 1907 and is similar to The Tale of Two Cities, only it moves a lot faster. Both are about the French Revolution in the late 1800's. I recommend it as a good read that will also give you some good history on the period.
3. I went to pick up my rental car - a Hyundai shoe box - and was told that for $4 for the week I could upgrade to a Mazda 5 hatchback. No brainer. And a nice vehicle. But it may take me the week to figure out the bells and whistles.
4. It's cold here. And I forgot some of the simple annoyances of winter driving, like how quickly your car windows and mirrors get dirty from the melted snow that gets thrown up by traffic.

What were parks called before they invented cars? Or are the two not connected?
What is the etiquette about sharing the arm rest on a plane?

Time for sleep. Tomorrow morning I'll go to Men's Breakfast. Looking forward to that!
G'night.

Hey, the Goulettes here. So how is it that you plan your visits either just after or just before we come into town? We will be back in Grand Rapids next weekend. Sorry to miss you again! Maybe next time. Enjoy your visit and stay warm!
