Never go to bed angry. Stay awake and plot your revenge.

Why do Koreans go to the beach?

For the sunshine, of course!

I got up at 5:30 this morning to get everything done before heading out to work.
(Picture my head tilted slightly back, my eyes rolled up in an expression of weariness, and the back of my hand against my forehead.)
I made my own breakfast (!) and then cut up all the fixin's for tonight's crock pot dinner. Did some bookkeeping and then frosted the chocolate cake Pam had left in the freezer for me. I put the cake in a Tupperware container which is, at this very moment, in front of me. Why bother with a plate? It just has to be washed. And when you eat from the container you don't have to go back for seconds. They're already right there!

I naively thought I might have the electrical work done shortly after noon. I'm replacing 25 in-ground halogen landscaping lights with new fixtures and CFL's. Unfortunately, almost every light presented problems. Some of the plastic bases were brittle and cracked, some of the fittings were rusted tight, some of the original wiring was faulty....
I got about half of them done and then went to Home Depot to get the parts I need to finish the job, hopefully tomorrow morning.
In the meantime I got myself feeling genuinely whooped. The problem with landscape lighting is that they always put it so close to the ground. That's a lot of up and down.

This lady is funny.

Several interesting - and disturbing - stories in today's news. One that caught my eye had to do with our use of credit cards. Total credit card debt has risen 315% in the last five years. No, there isn't supposed to be any decimal in that figure. Three hundred and fifteen percent. And the number of people delinquent on that debt is the highest it's been in three years. I've heard that some Americans caught in the mortgage mess are using what money they have to make the house payment and using credit cards to cover the rest of their essential expenses. If we are headed into a recession it's only going to get worse. Scary.
But perhaps we need to re-examine what constitutes "essential expenses." Methinks we've come to think of things like eating out, another pair of jeans, and magazine subscriptions as essentials. Never mind lease payments on very nice vehicles.

This post is short, but I need to get some sleep. See, after working on the lighting tomorrow morning I'm meeting Josh White for a ride up Vulture Mine Road into Wickenburg. We were going to make this trip a week ago but didn't have time so only rode out to Cave Creek. It's supposed to be in the high 70's tomorrow (again) and that's weather too good to pass up.
Besides, I've eaten about 1/4 of this cake.
