My meal schedule and diet have been all messed up too. But things got back to normal with lunch today at Chick-Fil-A.
There's a story here. And some soiled underwear.
And we know what happened here, but how do they solve the problem?!
I had a guy in a church I pastored who was a train junky. He'd sit for hours watching the rail yard in Salinas, and if a special train was passing through he was there! Here's a site devoted to train fanatics. Some interesting videos here.

And this is for your kids. (right)

Is there anything more over-packaged than an HP printer cartridge? Is there a reason for all of that?
The wedding went off...with a hitch. The temps rose into the low 80's and it was humid. I'd forgotten how much I sweat in a situation like that. But the skies were clear and we had a slight breeze.
The brothers didn't pull anything and the grooms youngest son/ring bearer, who has ADHD, did a great job.
I've never done a wedding with croaking bull frogs in the background. Maybe that's why I forgot one of my lines. I hope it was the ceremony Lisa envisioned.
At the reception in Sue's yard afterward I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and visiting with some great people. I was ready to leave when she dragged me over to meet her in-laws sitting at the far corner of the canopy. I spent the next 45 minutes visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Prins and walked to my rental car saying, "'tank you, Fadder" under my breath. What a wonderful couple! He came here from the Netherlands in 1932 when he was 14, and has been barbering since getting back from WWII at the age of 18. The amazing thing is how many people who's hair he had cut that I knew. The late Mr. Baker - my theology prof back in the early 70's. Jim Carlson, my youth pastor and predecessor as Ministries Studies Chairman at GBC. Rick Velting, president of the GBC board. But mostly we shared stories about God's goodness and provision, with lots of laughter sprinkled in. When we parted he said, "Let me give you a hug." And I told them they were nice enough that they could be Swedish instead of Dutch.
Saying My Goodbyes
On the way to the wedding I drove by our house on Perry. The family that bought it from us 18 months ago moved out last month after negotiating a short sale. I went across the street to see Scott and Tara. They were very surprised and gave me a warm greeting that felt very good.
After visiting with them, catching up on kids, jobs and churches, I went over to look through the windows of 3494 Perry. Then I found the back door unlocked so I let myself in.
How sad.
Long story, but they had an accident involving $100,000 of water damage. The insurance company and/or the owners made some unfortunate decisions as the repaired the damage, including the dark stain they used for the quarter-sawn oak floors. And they used that same stain on the hard maple floor in the kitchen. As they left, the owners ripped out every appliance, including the dishwasher and over-the-range microwave. They obviously hadn't watered the landscaping since they moved in; most of what I planted was dead, including some nice specimen plants. And the place was left in a mess, inside and out.
It made me sad. It also left me feeling that it wasn't "our" house anymore. Scott & Tara commented on how sad it was to see them let it go, ride trail bikes through the landscaping, and ignore waves from neighbors.
I don't know what will happen to the house under the new owners - who got a killer deal on it - but my emotional attatchment died as I walked through something completely different than what we left behind.
She was a beautiful lady and deserved better.
Tomorrow will be a challenge. I think I'll have my body back by then, but this section in James is both important and difficult to present in sermon form. And in Foundations we'll tackle transubstantiation, sacerdotalism and Zwingli's perspective on the Lord's Supper.
Feel free to join us!
