Quid Pro Quo

I know what you're thinking: this pic of a building is Photoshopped. But it's not. This is a building in Germany, the HQ and factory of a company that makes baskets.

If you're interested, here's an interesting article in Slate about Sam's Club and how it compares to Costco.

In the movie "Silence of the Lambs" Clarice (Jodie Foster) drives a Pinto.

Here's an article about Eddie Bonine, Aubri's cousin, who Friday night pitched his third start for the Tigers. The kid seems to have game.

Tomorrow in the worship service we'll look at the first half of James 4. He gets pretty worked up, rips into 'em.
In Foundations we're going to look at the topic of baptism. The question is - has to be - what does the Bible say?
Their assignment for the week was to read this on Wikipedia.

I scratch you back, you scratch mine.
That's the translation of the Latin phrase Quid Pro Quo. An exchange of equal value. A favor for a favor.
But then it's not a favor, is it? It's a transaction.
Doing favors, true favors without any hint of a quid pro quo, is one of the few pure pleasures in life. I enjoy that, but often have to be almost stern with people who feel the need to return the favor in some way, do something to say thank you.
No!
Just say thank you. Anything more than that turns it into a transaction and takes the fun, the satisfaction out of it.
