"We Serve Vegetarians - just tell us how you'd like them prepared."
Yes, they played Miami, but the Cardinals are looking like a serious football team. It sucks to be Matt Leinart. The third-year golden boy stands on the sideline and watches the second oldest QB in the NFL throw for 361 yards and three TD's.
Next Sunday the Cards play the Jets, and Warner's counterpart will be the oldest QB in the NFL. Watch - some sports writer is going to call it the Senior Bowl.
Every once in awhile my brain goes into hyper-drive during a sermon. Full-blown ADD. Usually I know it's happening, so I was surprised to hear Pam and the kids say at lunch that this morning was one of those. Aubri's comment was, "You were talking to your other self," and Pam told me I had a ton of those unfinished sentences when my mind moves on before my mouth has caught up.
I hope that the Holy Spirit was able to work through, or in spite of, the storm in my brain.
I knew I was Jolting it second hour. And I don't think these people know quite what to do with me when I'm a bit amped up. They'll learn...just wait for it to pass.
We have nine, and maybe 11 people from Pathway planning on doing the triathlon on Thanksgiving Day. I told them I was working on a design for a "Team Pathway" shirt we could wear for the competition. The discussion then moved to my struggles with the swimming segment and my inability to breath without my snorkel.
They told me I can't wear a Pathway shirt.
I miss my parents. Being with them for those four days was very good. It's not like we've ever had a strained relationship; we've always been tight. But as they age and I do the same I find myself feeling especially drawn to their company. I really like being with them. It's difficult for them to travel, and my sitz en leben makes it difficult for me. The course of life is moving inexorably onward, limiting the opportunities we have left. That makes me sad.
I've mentioned that we watch the better part of Meet the Press before heading off to church. Tom Brokaw is taking over for the late Tim Russert until the election. His guest this morning was Bob Woodward, as in the Washington Post/Woodward & Bernstein Woodward. He's just written a book titled, "The War Within, a Secret White House History." Not surprisingly the book is a very harsh critique of Pres. Bush's leadership with re. to the war in Iraq.
I shut it off early. I understand Woodward's agenda but I expect Brokaw to act like a journalist, not a talk show host. A journalist ask questions and challenges the assetions of his interviewee. Brokaw served up softballs questions designed to allow Woodward to make his case. "You say in your book that...." Woodward would then say, "Yes...." and follow it with details on his accusations of Bush's failures. This was followed by more of the same.
And they wonder why most Americans think there's a liberal bias in the press.
Tim Russert was a Democrat. Everybody who followed the show knew that. But he was always a true journalist, challenging all his guests equally. He asked all his guests penetrating questions, and then follow-up questions that got to the heart of the issue(s) under discussion. No one left an appearance on Meet the Press feeling like they got away with anything.
We need more Tim Russerts!
I'm whooped. Time for meal #4 and bed.
G'night
