"That's my sister on the left, then my daughter, my wife and my two nieces. No, wait. My daughter is on the left and my sister....
No,..."
You may have seen the news story about the two NFL players and two others who are missing on a fishing boat off the coast of Florida. One of the NFL guys is the son of the really nice sportscaster for our local NBC affiliate. Tonight's news broadcast was somber and in some cases openly emotional.
We hit the uppser 80's today and should hit 90 tomorrow, maybe a record high. This while New England is getting blasted with over a foot of snow. You may be thinking 90 is too hot for this time of year, but especially with the very low humidity it's very pleasant, and certainly to be preferred to what's blowing in on the other side of the country!
I hesitate to give any review of the morning, but the preacher was sure into it. Was it effective? That's God's department. I also learned a long time ago that the effectiveness of preaching is incremental. Very rarely does one sermon make a significant difference, just as a single meal seldom does (unless it's bad clams on the last day of a vacation in New England, but we don't need to go there). Rather, the regular intake of God's Word has a cumulative effect as the Holy Spirit uses it through the vicissitudes of daily life. (I look for opportunities to use that word. A favorite.)
I've almost given up hope that we'll stave off the grammatical confusion involving "take" and "bring." When I hear them misused in TV scripts I realize that the battle is virtually lost.
This is both creative and scary:
Emergency tire inflation
The Suns beat the Lakers! Mixed feeling about that one because I'm still a Lakers fan at some level, but in a head-to-head I'll go with the home team.
I'm pretty sure that earlier today I had a thought about something I'd write about tonight, but if I did it's gone, along with the preacher's brain. It is, after all, Sunday night. Tomorrow I have to work with power tools, so I need to get my sleep.
I promise deep, incisive and provacative discourse tomorrow evening.
or not.

I feel the same way about the modern use of the word "gender" instead of "sex, particularly since the sociopolitical implications of that switch are so depressing.
Simply irritating though, is the so-called word "co-conspiritor." If one cannot conspire with oneself, then the very presence of a conspirator makes the "co-" redundant.
