My brother Scott sent me that cartoon. A grin.Late post tonight because we went to the Good Friday service at church. Very good service! They have an excellent choir that did what's called a Cantata - a biblical story (in this case Passion Week) through a series of songs.
On the way home we stopped to get some 1" angle brackets so I could fix the cabinet under the sink. The face frame was coming off, pulling away from the cabinet body. So a couple of brackets now holds it securely in place.
After that little task it was time for Cascade berries over shortcake (made from scratch) with real whip cream on top - not the stuff you buy in the store but the stuff mom makes herself.
I have a 12:45 flight back to Phoenix tomorrow. Just in time, too. Tomorrow the wind is supposed to blow, the temps plummet and the rain fall. In other words, normal Seattle weather. But hey, there's a 60% chance of rain in Phoenix tomorrow.
The folks had a funeral to go to this afternoon so I stayed home and worked on my stuff for Sunday. I'm looking forward to celebrating Easter at Pathway. We don't have the horses to pull of the major Easter production that many churches will do. But we'll sing about a risen Lord, read the resurrection story and take a look at what I think is one of the overlooked themes of the biblical narrative.
If you added together the resurrection narratives of the four gospels what one theme would they all have in common? What is the narrative feature found in each?
We've been talking and realize several projects didn't get done. I didn't get the door to the downstairs bathroom trimmed. You should have at least a 3/4" gap under a bathroom door, and with the new tile floor they just had installed they have maybe 1/4". I didn't get on the phone with customer service for their cable company to find out why the VCR (yes, they use a VCR) in the den doesn't work. I suspect the cable guy hooked things up in the wrong sequence, but dad wanted me to give them a call. They also have issues with the drain to their dishwasher and it should be pulled out from the wall to see what the problem is.
A handyman's work is never done.
It's after midnight, which means it's really Saturday. So is this still Friday's post?
Either way, it's time for me to get some sleep!
P.S.
It's 5 a.m. local time and we are just back from the hospital. Shortly after typing "...get some sleep" dad began having a very irregular heart beat and feeling weak. After waiting to see if it would subside we called 9-1-1 and he was transported to Steven's Hospital not far from their house.
Long (five hour) story short, he has a-fibrillation (??) and needs to see his cardiologist first thing Monday. Until then he's to take one aspirin a day to reduce the chances for a clot in the upper chamber of his heart.
I am VERY thankful that dad is OK and that I was here to help with the situation. My mother gets from one room of the house to the other with great difficulty, so while God is our sure and certain help in every situation I'd rather not think about how it would have gone had someone not been here to help. That is, God's sovereignty had #2 son in the house for this last night of his trip for "just such a time as this."
Yes, we talked at the hospital about the need to change the living arrangements. She is, however, Swedish.

Sending prayers for your dad. I didn't realize that you are still gone. Thank you for calling to check on us last night. I don't know if the Grays will make to Easter Sunday at Pathway two years in a row...bummer.
Wait a minute, come back. You didn't mention that the gable windows didn't get washed, the shades for the greenhouse were not installed, the dishwasher drainage is still a big question, etc. But, my deep gratitude for the bigger projects. Love you! Dad
