My opinion of Wells Fargo has changed 180 degrees and it has nothing to do with their stress test. I'm going to be putting some major stress on them first thing tomorrow.
Here's one you can use:
Hacking an old VCR
I'm going out on a limb here...Cleveland in four.
Manny Ramirez will have to sit out 50 games and lose $7 million in salary for taking hCG, a female fertility drug. And he didn't even get pregnant.
What happens to the $7 million he would normally get paid for those games? Does it stay with the club?
I have a suggestion for Mr. Selig and the commissioners of all other major sports. If a player gets caught using a banned substance he gets the standard suspension and loss of pay. But the player's team also has to pay a fine equal to the player's forfeited salary. This would, as they say, incentivise (contempo-speak for motivate) the teams to police their own players. Right now the only hit the Dodgers take is being without Manny for 50 games. Yes, that hurts, but they will still draw fans and sell tickets, with little or no financial hit. Athletes have shown an amazing inability to factor into their decision making process the economic impact of cheating, but I'm guessing team owners will take a different view of things. Frank McCourt, current owner of the Dodgers, would likely be testing all his players weekly if a juiced athlete cost him big.
You think the Yankees have an expensive payroll now??
I again spent most of the day working on the curriculum. But I squeezed in some sermon prep this morning. I made an executive decision a couple of days ago and decided to set aside our series in 1 Corinthians for one Sunday. No, we're not going to observe the Hallmark Holiday. Sorry. But we are going to skip back to 2 Kings 5 and a favorite OT narrative.
What's the last part of that story about?
They warned us that Greyhounds often sleep with their eyes open, so we should never assume Al is awake just because he's looking at us. I forgot that today and casually stepped over Al as he lay next to my desk. I assumed he saw me coming, but he was asleep. Next thing I know I hear a deep, menacing growl coming from beneath me. He was startled awake and responded instinctively.
OK, we won't do that again!
Busy day tomorrow. Three appointments and a sermon done by noon. But if you need me after lunch I'll be at the local branch of Wells Fargo.
