A single finger cannot lift a pebble - Chinese Proverb

I know why you think I picked this pic for tonight, but you're wrong.
The car to the right of that row is a '59 Olds. We owned one of those when we lived in Riverside back in the mid-80's. Ours was a 2-door. Sweetest ride I ever owned.
The car next to it is a 64 Plymouth Belvedere, the car I owned when we got married. I drove it from Grand Rapids to Spokane for a summer internship, then to Seattle (my hometown), then to Vegas to get married (Pam's hometown) and then back to Grand Rapids for my senior year (year 4 of 6).
I showed the pic to Pam and she didn't even notice the sign. "Is that our car?!"

It's time to play the disclaimer tape again. I should put it on the calendar and run it every 4 months or so.

The views expressed in this blog are those of the author...I think. Most of them are inadequately considered, poorly formed and subject to change without notification. You should NOT take them seriously. Their only value, if there is any at all, is to confirm in your own mind why you think otherwise.

I read TIME Magazine and listen to NPR. I disagree with much of what I read and hear there, but I think they're both worthwhile because they make me think about things. That's part of the problem, IMHO, with Ditto-Heads (the term for people who listen to Rush Limbaugh). They hear only what they agree with. I want to be exposed to ideas I don't like. Most of them I won't like because they're wrong (I'm right) but some I won't like because they shine the light on weaknesses in my construct. Or they present me with issues I haven't adequately considered. Or just new ideas.

Put this blog in that category. Unless you agree with me. Then, welcome to right.

Speaking of TIME, I read an article today that asked what letter the recovery will be. Will this financial crisis and its aftermath look like a V, a U or a W? I thought that was a great way to illustrate the possibilities. The author said he (she?) was sure it wasn't an L. That's the good news.

I really like the artwork for my curriculum cases and CD's.

At our elder meeting tonight we went over the data on our web site activity. There are very significant spikes the day after each of our direct mail drops. Very encouraging!

I saw the list of Pres. Obama's potential picks for the Supreme Court. I'm not sure which one I consider scarier - Gov. Jennifer Granholm of MI or former AZ gov. Janet Napolitano. Re. the former, why would you consider someone who has guided her state to the worst unemployment rate in the nation? The latter is just a liberal who left the state with a monstrous budget shortfall.

Sunday's sermon should be interesting. 1 Cor. 11 - the first in Paul's section on proper conduct in worship services. Hats off (or is it on) to the preachers who can do this without raising the hair ... oh, never mind.
