"Now and then an innocent man is sent to Congress." - Kin Hubbard

Here's a guy who is very comfortable in his own skin. He took his boom box to the beach, stripped down to his Speedo and went to work bustin' his best moves.

More can-I-do-it? training today, with a brisk run this morning and 500m in the pool this afternoon. We have officially entered the Ibuprofen Zone. We’ve also entered the eat-everything-not-nailed-down zone.
Some male athletes stop shaving before an important event to ramp up their competitive juices. Others shave their heads as an expression of intensity and focus. I’ve stopped wearing my Scooby-Doo slippers.

I worked on Gerta early this morning. I’ll continue to check over the next few days but this afternoon’s trip to the pool and back showed no sign of any fuel leaks from the pump’s outlet tube. In the process of that repair I discovered that this Brazilian pump has a built in screen filter - a very fine metal mesh. It wasn’t real bad but had some clogging, so I cleaned it. The result seems dramatic. Turns out Gerta has some spunk left in her. I need to dial back the idle speed now.

Early this afternoon I went into town and swapped the chandeliers in two homes. The job was simple enough that I even let Todd do some of it. Hayes helped hold my tools.
Todd said one of the houses, currently in the midst of a sale, would probably be “scraped” by the new owners; they’ll bulldoze it down to the foundation (no basements here) and build a new one. That surprised me because it’s a nice home that just needs some updating. Todd said no way. “It needs to be scraped. It was built in 1969!”
I hope he never finds out when I was built!

Troy Smith died a few days ago at the age of 87. Smith founded the Sonic Drive-In chain and started the car-hop business. If you have Sonics where you live go have a meal in memoriam. It’s good food, esp. their shakes.

This is a You Tube of an improve group surprising people in a mall’s food court. Cool!

Here’s a new version of Tic-Tac-Toe

The thing I don’t like about staying the same while the rest of the country shifts to Standard Time is what it does to TV viewing. Any national program that is broadcast live is now on an hour later. It takes me at least a week to adjust my viewing habits for programs like Mike & Mike In the Morning and Pardon the Interruption.

Election returns aren't in yet. The results in New Jersey and upstate NY should be especially interesting. Has the blush of Pres. Obama's rose faded? Will Republican victories signal the pendulum's return path?

A: I praise you God because you are sovereign over the kingdom's of men...
B: And you give them to whomsoever you will.

My "worship Type A" this morning was "thanks for not being ADD". So good to have a God that gives everyone of us all of his attention and love all the time and never gets sidetracked. Of course, I got half way into the prayer and something sparkly caught my attention...
