I'm a morning person, but sometimes I decide to sleep right through it.

Is this not a great idea?

At 1:30 a.m. last night a police officer here responded to reports of a crashed motorcycle on an overpass. Neither the cop nor the tow truck driver who hauled off the bike bothered to look for the person who had been riding it. Ten hours later a homeless man wandering the railroad tracks below the overpass found the body of the 41-year old man who had been on the bike and lost control as he rounded the curve up above. When asked why he didn't look for the body the officer said it was dark and there was too much territory to cover. He explained the bike could have been stolen or it could have been a hit and run. He had no reason to look for the rider.

I am generally very supportive of law enforcement but this one bothers me. It was too dark? You couldn't get other officers to help? I haven't read in the local news whether the man was killed on impact or may have been alive after the crash. I suspect somebody is in trouble with his supervisor. Lawsuits anyone?

Painting 14 cabinet doors is not a great job for someone with ADD. Good grief.

My temporary fix for Gerta's acceleration problems turned out to be more temporary than I hoped. I'm going to have to pull the distributor and give it a proper cleaning but I don't have time for that in the foreseeable future. Maybe when I get back from Seattle and/or after the cabinet doors are done.

It's been pointed out that no country faces a greater terrorist threat than Israel, yet they have never had an incident at an Israeli airport. Why? Because they focus on people who pose a potential threat while we focus on the weapon that may pose a threat. We search the 83-year old grandmother in a wheelchair just as closely as we do the 26-year old middle eastern man, lest we violate someone's civil rights. Israel doesn't care about what's politically correct; they want to protect their citizens.

OK, I'm intentionally keeping this post short so you'll watch this video. I know that "Norwegian Military Tattoo" sounds like the punch line to a joke told by a Swede. But a military tattoo is a display of military precision meant to provide an evening's entertainment. Years ago we went to see the Queen's Guard (British) at a tattoo in Grand Rapids. But this one is amazing. You gotta watch it all the way through.

Norwegian Military Tattoo

Outstanding, huh?!
