"Tact is the ability to describe others as they see themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

Old Folks Week #5
(If you want to supply a caption, go ahead. Me? I'm not going near this one!)

NBC might be hyping the Winter Olympics just a bit. This morning I went from ESPN2 (Mike & Mike in the Morning) over to the Today Show to catch the news but they seemed to be running a 3-hour commercial for the Games. Not too surprising given the hit it looks like NBC will take on their coverage. They bid BIG bucks years ago to get exclusive broadcast rights and then the world economy took a dive, slamming their ad sales. Oops.

Sixty percent of Vancouver residents say hosting the Olympics is a negative thing for their city. The anticipated $8 billion shortfall could have something to do with that. Maybe.

It surprised me that they showed the video of the luger's crash. Given what we're hearing some of the most experienced sledders say about that course I'm also surprised they're going ahead with the event. I sure hope there isn't another death or injury! How in the world do racers not think about that as they speed down the track - reaching speeds near 90 mph.

This is a really short post tonight, but I think posting that picture took a lot out of me. The rest of them are watching the opening ceremonies but I've never found them all that interesting. Sorry. So I think I'm headed to bed early. Big plans for tomorrow, including figuring out why Gerta's brake lights don't work.
G'night.
