Home again, home again, jiggity jig.
We’re now back on schedule, at least with regard to blog posts. It may take a week for my internal clock to reset. My alarm sounded at 3 a.m. Grand Rapids time (midnight Phx time) and I pulled out of my mother-in-law’s driveway a little before 4:00. Had a little trouble finding a place to fill up the rental car at that hour of the dark but I still got to the G.R. airport in plenty of time. The flight to Chicago was uneventful, but included an interesting conversation with my seatmate. She was flying back to CA after a visit with family and friends in northern MI. Raised Catholic she now “worships in my home listening to the birds and looking at the trees outside.” Her sister is recovering from a broken marriage to a minister, but this sister still strictly adheres to her denomination’s long list of rules and regulations. Worse, she insists that others do the same if they want to get into heaven. So we talked about Scripture (is it God’s Word and authoritative?), the likelihood of a universal truth (is there something you must believe to get into heaven?) and why rules and regs seem to be so common in religions.
Seeds planted, I trust. Will someone come along to water?
The flight from Chicago to Phx included some significant turbulence. Given the storms rolling through the southeast portion of the country I’m thankful for a flight that actually went to my destination and arrived safely. Lots of flights didn’t.
Almost four hours on a plane and I was offered one soft drink. Yea American Airlines!!
Besides a goofed up sleep schedule my meals are all messed up. I don’t know any way to get back on track besides eating early, middle and late. And didn’t I read somewhere that ice cream gets your biological clock back in sync?
Thank you, Michigan peeps, for great visits. Seeing some of you again reminds me what a treasure these friendships are for us. I’ll be back in July for the convention and hope to see more of you. A Sunday morning at Celebration?
BTW, Jim and the band did Celebration proud!
Tomorrow morning at Pathway! It feels like a month since I’ve been there. The message comes from the second half of 1 Tim. 6 and addresses one of the most difficult issues we face in our culture. God speaks, we listen, measure ourselves against his Word and bring ourselves into ever closer conformity.
