I'm not getting old, I'm ripening.

Last night I wrote that things would get worse for Toyota. Today it happened, but not like I expected. They've recalled 600,000 Sienna minivans because the cable holding the spare tire in place can rust in cold climates where road salt is used. When it breaks the tire falls from underneath the van, causing a problem for whoever is driving behind the van. Oops.

The Phoenix Coyotes (NHL) and Suns (NBA) are both in the playoffs. The Cardinals were in the NFL playoffs and though it's early in the MLB season the Diamondbacks are tied for second in the division, two games out.

Find something you're good at and specialize in it.

The Senate Judiciary Committee held confirmation hearings today, questioning Goodwin Liu, President Obama's nominee to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (San Fransisco). Aside from several significant issues arising from Liu's writings and speeches, he has only been an academic. He has never tried a case as a lawyer or served as a judge. He has never worked in a courtroom. It strikes me as odd that someone would be nominated as an appellate judge who has never practiced courtroom law.

Here's a cool site:
Ikea Hacker
It's full of ideas for re-imagining uses for IKEA furniture. People take an IKEA piece and find another way to use it through modifying, combining, sometimes just turning it upside down and fastening it to the wall.

Watched an accident happen today. The gal who was stopped in front of me at the light decided to move quickly over into the left turn lane and shoot up to the green left turn arrow before it changed. She failed to look over her left shoulder before she made that move and got half-way into the left turn lane when a guy coming up that lane smacked her HARD. He was going a little faster than normal so he could make it before the arrow went yellow. Neither car is worth repairing.

Witnessing something like that always heightens my alertness for the rest of the drive home. I should drive like that all the time. I should also be more conscious of God's protective hand in my life. That guy did nothing wrong, and had the circumstances been only slightly different the outcome could have been much more serious.
T'ank you, Fadder.
