I filled up the Sorento on the way home from church. I got 21.4 mpg on this tank of gas, and almost none of that was on the freeway. In the van I'd have been lucky to get half that, which means I saved $50 over the last 350 miles of driving. All that and remote entry!
But wait! There's more!
I listened to a CD on the drive into church.
Life is gooood.
This article appeared on the local ABC affiliate site today:
The Coffee Party
It's a reaction to the Tea Party movement. Their goal is to return civil discourse to the discussion of political issues. This small but growing movement aims to get people together to discuss current events with the premise that govt. is not the enemy and people can disagree about the appropriate role of govt. without demonizing one another.
With an approach like that they don't stand a chance of surviving past next month.
In the "what were they thinking?" category, the AZ legislature passed and the governor signed a bill that allows people to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. Only two other states, Alaska and Vermont, have a similar law.
Think about that, fellow Arizonans, next time someone gets upset with you for driving too fast, too slow or too ____ on the road, thinks you looked at his girl wrong or decides the Hispanic looking guy got a better table than him at the Waffle House.
One of the things they tell runners and cyclists is that we should assume everyone driving a car has a bad attitude about people who exercise. Now we should assume that everyone doing anything has a bad attitude and a Luger in their waistband.
I check the WOODtv.com website each day so I can keep up on the news and weather from Grand Rapids. It's interesting to read coverage of the Red Wings / Coyotes playoff series from G.R. and Phoenix news outlets.
We hit 92 degrees here. That's about 8 degrees above normal, but with 11% humidity the heat felt good. I went to the driving range this afternoon and it was great to be out in the bright sun.
OK, about Pathway this morning.
We're now to the stage where we can have people missing and still feel like a good group. People who were invited as visitors two months ago are now bringing visitors themselves. Maybe it shouldn't be so, but it's a lot easier to preach to a larger group (larger being a relative term). When there's just a handful of people in the room I feel like I need to put more energy into the sermon so it is a real sermon and not just a glorified conversation with a small group. "More" people give energy back through their facial expressions.
Never mind that, it's such a great group of people. Eager learners who want to hear God's Word. What preacher could want more?
I've got CNN on and they're interviewing two Black preachers. Between the two of them there is a whole lot of bling going on. Some pretty slick threads, too. I've never seen a double shirt collar before.
Maybe I should get me some bling. I'm cool enough to wear a thick gold chain, aren't I? And a big gold wrist watch?
I'll probably miss posting tomorrow night. Between flights, layovers and time zone changes most of my day will be spent in travel. I'll get to my mother-in-law's place between 8 and 9 p.m. and be ready for bed. I also don't know when or where I'll have access to the internet. But I'll do my best to post daily at least by Tuesday. Should be an interesting week seeing Michigan peeps, going to meetings and the sessions at the conference.

It's strange reading "bling" and "peeps" on your blog.
If you think that's weird, you should see the single gold tooth.
BWAH-HA-HA-HA!!!
