“Lots of people have the will to win, but few have the will to prepare.” - Joe Paterno

These guys are probably real dangerous and a menace to society - wherever it is they live. But seriously, guys...how are we supposed to keep from laughing?

The women's final of the French Open was played this morning. Samantha Stosure (Australia) against Francesca Schiovone (Italy). Biceps against mustache.
Mustache won.

You gotta watch this, all the way through. These guys are playing a fair, or a festival somewhere. Even if you don't like drummers you have to admit, this guy (these guys) are good.

Did a 22-mile ride this morning. It was 80 degrees when I left and 88 when I got home. The bad news is that I was out the door before 8 a.m. Tomorrow's high may set a record for the date (110).

Came home and worked on Gerta before the garage got too hot. Both rear wheels are closed up, but I still have to torque down the castle nuts that hold on the rear hubs. They take 120 lbs. of torque, so that will be a project in itself. But she now has new wheel cylinders and brake lines all the way around and new rear axle seals on both sides. ALL the transmission oil has leaked out in this months-long process, and I've read that refilling it will be a big mess unless I have the special VW pump they had in all the shops 42 years ago (I don't). Once that's done a brake bleed is all that stands between me and Gerta out on the open road! Well, that and the issue of a car sans air conditioning in triple-digit temps.

I got a call this morning that rates as one of the nicest I've rec'd in a very long time. Pretty much made my day.
The work of a pastor can be described as incremental. It's a little like parenting; you don't see changes from one day to the next, sometimes one month to the next. But then something happens and you realize it's all worth it.
And the only thing to do is thank the God who allows me to do this here job.
The people are the best part!

I bought this song on iTunes today. I first heard it on Pandora. Lots of people have covered it but this one is by far the best, IMHO.
This is a YouTube "video" of the song, except there's no video, just the soundtrack. But this IS what traditional gospel music is all about. I absolutely love it.
I Don't Feel No Ways Tired, by Rev. James Cleveland

Fred & Karen are here. They got to our house at about 7 p.m. We've had dinner and lots of good & important conversation. Now it's time for all of us to turn in for the night. They'll be our very special guests at Pathway tomorrow morning. I'm thankful for their willingness to teach us about missions.
Time for Pathway to grow up in several areas, and this is one of them. We'll get schooled by the best.
