A penny earned is a government oversight.

I’m sitting at the picnic table while Pam cooks eggs and bacon for our Tuesday morning breakfast. It’s chilly, probably in the low 50’s. But that’s camping.

We spent the weekend with the folks at their home - the Ida Culver House in north Seattle. This is the dining room and it gives you an idea how very nice the place is. Their 3-bedroom unit is just as fancy, thanks in large part to mom’s decorating. She’d have my head if she knew I posted this pic of her, but while she’s a wizard in the kitchen she wouldn’t know where to look for a computer’s ON switch. And Dad loves me too much to show her.
Yesterday we set up camp after we arrived at noon. We got the last remaining “primitive” tent site out of a total of seven available. Just a clearing, a picnic table and a faucet on the end of a pipe. No other camp site is visible from ours and we had to carry everything down the trail from the parking area. Our “home in the woods.”
We then drove 14 miles into the town of Florence to get some vittles and a hatchet for the firewood. It was late afternoon when we got back but we had time for a short hike on one of the several trails right around Washburn State Park. It’s really pretty here, and a two dimensional pic doesn’t do it justice.
Today’s agenda is YTBD - Yet To Be Determined. That’s the thing about camping. We do what we want when we want. First order is breakfast. Then a hike back to the car and the short drive to the showers over in Loop A. Pam got pretty cold during the night, despite wearing several layers when she climbed into her sleeping bag, so a hot shower should do her good. Uhm...assuming they have hot water here. If tomorrow I post from a hotel in Eugene you’ll know the answer to that one!

After showers we’ll probably go down to the beach, maybe tour the lighthouse, go for another hike....

P.S. The showers could graciously be described as tepid. But she’s willing to stick it out.

Your mother looks *lovely*. It looks like she is still wearing the sling. How's she doing?

She's doing well, just very ready to be done with that sling. She's right-handed and not particularly ambidextrous. I think she has another 2 weeks in it, then she begins PT.

I can imagine how frustrating that would be. Thanks for the update.
