The world stopped turning today. That's what they said on the CBS news tonight. The last episode of As the World Turns aired today. Come Monday only six soap operas will be left on daytime TV.
Who says everything is getting worse?
I look forward to the day when we'll be down to a half dozen reality shows.
I played my normal Friday morning round of golf this morning and was pleased with my game. Putted horribly, but from tee to green went better than it has in recent memory.
The course closest to our house is closed for two weeks while they re-seed with the winter rye grass used on courses here. So I played one of the other of Sun City's five courses. Riverview is supposed to be the toughest of the group. eh.
Weird thing - I was put with two of the men I played with last Friday at my "home" course. Not what I would have picked, but when you show up as a single you deal with whatever you get. One guy talks non-stop, but only about himself. The other plays VERY slowly and has a radio playing in his golf cart. What's the point of being quiet while someone tees off when you have Tony Bennett blaring from your cart?
Gotta love Sun City.
AMC seems to be running a Death Wish movie marathon. They're up to Death Wish XXI: Death by Senility tonight.
The new iteration of Google anticipates what you're looking for and makes suggestion as you type each letter.
How many ways could "Do mid..." end? Which of those many ways would Google think you're looking for?
Go ahead, try it. (minus the ... of course)
My self-created schedule calls for 62 miles tomorrow but that may not happen. Average highs should be about 97 degrees now but we'll hit 107 tomorrow. That means we'll be lucky to have an overnight low of 80. The sun doesn't come up until 6:15, so if I leave by 6:30 it's still close to 11 by the time I get home. (i.e., hot)
The race isn't until late November so my schedule has plenty of room for slack. If I do 50 miles tomorrow (roughly last week's ride) I won't be in any risk of a training shortfall come November, and given the experience I had with dehydration last Wednesday it may be wisest to back it off tomorrow.
Yom Kippur, the holiest of the High Holy Days on the Jewish Calendar, began this evening at sundown.
Tomorrow is National Cheeseburger Day.
(no connection, at least that I'm aware of.)
I'm excited about the chance of meeting up with a cousin, Dave Naslund, for lunch on Monday. We haven't seen each other in close to 50 years (yes, we were both young kids). He's going to be driving through Phoenix on his way from Douglas, just this side of the U.S./Mexico border, up to the Grand Canyon.
Steve's middle name, Warren, comes from Dave's dad, my mom's brother. He and his wife Berdine were very good to us when we were serving our first church, were extremely poor, and pregnant with Steve. The only baby furniture we had was given to us by Warren & Berdine. He was a kind, gracious man. Berdine is still alive, and we have exchanged Christmas greetings for years.
For all the fun people make of Facebook I'm thankful for opportunities like this that never would have happened otherwise.

Michelle wants to know what you were searching for that starts with "do Mid..." Because if it continued "...dled aged men..." - she says "come on - its a little late."
Well? Do midgets have night vision?

In 3 weeks my family is spending the weekend with 3 of my closest college friends and their families....because we found each other again on face book. Let them make fun all they want.
