"There ought to be one day-- just one-- when there is open season on senators." - Will Rogers

For no good reason I feel especially tired tonight. I'd love to have a significant thought to share but all I've got is mental jetsam. (I'm going to do a short sermon series on Jonah, which may explain that word popping into my head.) In an effort to compensate for the near absence of coherent thought I'll include a couple of extra pics.
Hey, nobody makes you come here.
The plan was 32 miles this morning. A flat tire changed those plans. The good news: I discovered the flat before I left. The bad news: I only had one spare tube, which would have meant going on a longer ride with no tube if I got a flat out on the road. The bike shops don't open until 10:00, and by the time I got there and home it was too hot and humid to ride. Drat! So the plan is to be out the door very early in the morning for a make-up ride and be back, showered and recovered for a lunch appointment.

I was his first customer of the day. The two ladies came in about 5 minutes after me, but I told him about his zipper before he'd finished with me and gone out on the floor to help them. He seemed grateful.
What can I say?
If you can't fight gravity, use it to your advantage.

I considered Pres. Carter a particularly weak and ineffective President, but I thought he was a decent and honorable man. So I was surprised and disappointed when he broke the first rule of former Presidents and was publicly critical of a successor, President Bush. He pretty much ripped on Pres. Bush for a wide variety of perceived failings, and did so often. Even Pres. Clinton saved it for the campaign trail when that time came.

I can only assume Pres. Carter agrees fully with the policies and actions of Pres. Clinton, and now Pres. Obama because he's been notably silent.
I try to distinguish between my opinions of their policies & actions and the office they hold. I can vigorously disagree with what they do but I should show proper respect for the office. Maybe I'm wrong, but in that vein I thought we were supposed to append their title every time we referred to them, especially in print. So I'm always careful to write "Pres. Obama."

Pres. Obama was in Ohio today where he gave a speech in support of his economic policies. During that speech he referred to the Representative from that state who happens to be the minority leader in the House. He said, "Let me be clear to Mr. Boehner and everyone else."

That was intentionally disrespectful. Maybe it's the norm in political stump speeches, but if you're going to play the game that way don't complain about the lack of civility in others.
That's all I got, folks. See you here tomorrow night - if you're ready for another walk on the wild side.

Don't worry about not having much to say in the post. You had me at topless old lady in the meat section.

Ooh. I was hoping that was a man.

Wait. Now I'm totally not sure.
