"To be great is to be misunderstood." - Emerson (N.B. the reverse is NOT true)

Hot dog on a bun?

The nearby town of Surprise, Arizona is celebrating its 50th birthday this year. At some point isn't it time to change the name?

No flat tires this morning! 31 miles at a reasonably brisk pace.

I'm betting your palms will be sweaty IF you can watch this all the way through. (from Steve)
World's Scariest Job

Pathway has just grown! The newest Burgard doesn't have a name yet, but mom, dad and two brothers are all happy he's finally here.

What to put on the walls of the newly redecorated living room? The clock was shipped UPS this morning so it should be here by the end of the week. But the other spaces?
We've been surfing AllPosters.com for ideas. Over the years we've found posters to be a very cost-effective way to get good art at very reasonable prices. Buy the poster, take it someplace like Hobby Lobby for framing and it looks like you spent big(ger) bucks to get something fancy.

I tagged a couple of possibilities on their website as "favorites" just so we could go back and look at them several times to make sure we like them. This morning I got an email from them saying because I had things in my favorite folder I could get 20% off anything on their site for the next two days. Given the already cheap price of most posters that's quite a deal!

I'll take pics when everything is done, but because of the glare of flash on glass what hangs on a wall usually doesn't show up well. So here are the two from AllPosters.com that we're going to order:
Score Sheet of Moonlight Sonata
This is obviously a photographic reproduction of a portion of Beethoven's original manuscript. Note that it's a Giclee print. I had to look that up. That's a French word pronounced jhee-CLAY and it's a printing process something like inkjet printing. Supposed to be more vivid and very stable. Doesn't fade.
We like this one because it's unique - not the normal "picture on a wall," and you're eye is drawn to it. "What's that?" It's interesting.

The other one:
It's a Complicated World
The B&W will go well with the overall decor of the room. But we agree it's mis-titled, and that's why we like it. The point is not that they're wrestling with complex issues, but that a father impacts his son (and his son). It's a picture about the importance of fatherhood and the impact fathers have as models their sons inevitably follow. I am my father's son, as he is his father's son.
Being a father is an awesome responsibility.

If you take a picture of glass from an angle, the camera won't pick up the flash too much because it bounces the other direction. Try it once.

That same 'angled' photo technique has to be used when taking pictures of me to avoid significant glare whenever my shirt is off.
