"I haven't spoken to my wife in years. I didn't want to interrupt her." - Rodney Dangerfield

We cut that a little close, didn't we?

Tough morning. Not because of church, which was great. We continue to grow and I thought the services went well. But I had trouble physically. In retrospect I think I was feeling the effects of yesterday's ride. On my weekly long rides I intentionally don't look at my speed because the focus is on distance. But I noticed when I got home from the ride that my pace was .5 mph faster than for the same route last week. And I had some wind yesterday. I felt sore and tired when I got up this morning, and after breakfast thought, "I'm still hungry." Should have listened to myself and had more to eat. Which is to say the light headed feeling I had at church was probably nothing more than a combination of fatigue and blood sugar. JoEllen made some really good coffee cake, and even the small piece I had between services helped.

As my mileage continues to increase between now and the race I'll need to pay more attention to caloric intake. The new Dunkin' Donuts up the street should help. It's about five miles between there and In-'n-Out, but I'll just have to make the extra effort.

The expression in sports it that a tie is like kissing your sister. I think the same applies to watching your fantasy QB throw for one touchdown after another against your home team. So thank you, Phillip Rivers, for making our Cardinals look like the team from James Monroe Junior High.

Some kind of quirk in AZ law allows individuals to get on the general election ballot under the Green Party with just one write-in vote on a primary ballot. The Greenies don't like that because anybody can call themselves a Green Party Candidate. They don't have the structure to authorize only party-approved candidates. In fact, they suspect several of the "Green Party" candidates on our Nov. ballot are poseurs.

We got Arizona's 100-page voter "pamphlet" in the mail this week. It gives candidate statements for all the state-wide offices, and for each legislative district. Because I want to be an informed voter I read through the relevant statements.

I have NO idea what the "Corporation Commissioner" does, but six candidates want that position.
OK, five candidates want it. One, Theodore Gomez, running as the Green Party candidate seems to have something else on his mind. Here follows, verbatim, his candidate statement:

"I was recruited to come to Arizona from Michigan by Collins College in Tempe. They promised me that if I got myself to the school they would arrange for student loans and a job. A friend and I loaded everything we owned into a car and drove across the country. When we arrived the admissions counselor at Collins College enrolled us and signed us up for tense of thousands of dollars in student loans--but no job. So now we are homeless and live on Mill Avenue. It's hard to study when you have no place to sleep, so we dropped out of school but Collins College won't refund our money. We aren't the only students who have been scammed by Collins College. They lure young people here with promises of a better life and then pile us up with debt that we can never pay and throw us out on to the streets where we resort to asking strangers for change. If elected I will demand that private colleges be regulated so they can't hurt kids any more. Thanks Steve May for helping us out."

I love it! Theodore Gomez just stuck it to Collins College throughout the entire State of Arizona, paid for by the "Citizens Clean Elections Fund" which publishes the voter's guide, all because he arranged to get one write-in vote on the primary ballot as a Green Party Candidate. I'm guessing that's who Steve May is.

Mr. Gomez, I think you have a future in this world. I'm not sure which side of the law you'll be on, but you're already showing the imagination that can portend success.

That's awesome!

How does he stack up with Perennial Seattle Area Candidate Goodspaceguy Nelson.

Here's his blog: http://www.colonizespace.blogspot.com/

Oh yeah, and if you do a youtube search for him, there are lots of videos to watch as well.

Steve May is a Republican slimeball that tried to get a bunch of homeless people to run as Green party candidates mostly to get himself some camera time to help in his own campaign. What no amount of camera time can erase is his Severe DUI conviction last year. He's since dropped out and so have five of his six Green Party candidates.

No way to tell the body wasn't cooperating with you today - another poignant sermon.
