If life gives you melons you may be dyslexic.

"You seem surprised. Hey, I can sit here like this all day."

I didn’t mean to do it. I started out intending to do 24 miles at a brisk pace, nothing more. Somewhere halfway up the hill that obsessive part of me kicked in and I started pushing it. By the turn around point at the top I realized I had a shot at a p.r. By the time I got home I had the p.r. and total exhaustion. I can’t remember feeling that spent, even after my 75-miler. So was it worth it? I dunno. But I’m sure hungry!

Did you read about the U.S. distance swimmer who died in a race in Dubai? It was a 10k swim (6.2 miles) with the air temp in the high 90’s and the water temp in the 80’s. The local officials are saying it was a heart attack. Other swimmers are saying the conditions should have caused a cancellation and the organizers had inadequate coverage for swimmers in distress. (Several others needed medical help.) The guy was an Olympic hopeful. Sad.

Only one more week of incessant political ads, then another week of punditry, then back to just the normal bickering. If the polls are to be believed the Democrats are making last minute gains and the Republicans may not get the tsunami they’ve hoped for. Meanwhile, some are saying the best thing for the Dems would be a GOP landslide, because then, in two years when Democrats want to hold on to the White House, they can lay blame on the Republican majority in Congress.
My citizenship is in heaven. My citizenship is in heaven. My citizenship is in heaven, from whence I look for my Savior.

In last night's post I put a link to some video tours of cities around the world. If you've got the time, go back and look at the video for Vancouver (B.C.). When it's done, down at the bottom you'll see other time-lapse videos to choose from.

Because I didn't think I'd be back in the ministry I pitched and/or gave away most of my resources. Years ago I drew a really good church history tree and I doubt I can duplicate the thing. Anybody have one hidden away someplace?

Pam's home. We're watching Dancing with the Stars and going over to MNF during commercials. Am I not a good husband??

I'm going to a meeting tomorrow evening at Litchfield Elementary, where we meet on Sundays. It's an informational meeting for the parents of kids who attend there so the district can explain the renovation plans. They're going to demolish and rebuild the cafeteria, the gym and the teacher's lounge. Anybody else see a potential problem here?
We're hoping it gets done in phases, so as the cafeteria is being renovated we can meet in the gym and visa versa. I'll know more in 24.

Well, I'm just so caught up in DWTS that I'm having trouble concentrating on this post. And it's brownie time.
