Remarriage is the triumph of hope over experience.

I worked over my head today, both literally and metaphorically.
When they did the build-out at the clinic they didn't put in phone lines. Today I spent five hours running Cat-5 wire from three boxes in two rooms up across the ceiling joists, down through conduit and into the mechanical room on the outside of the building where I mounted a connection panel. I'll go back Monday to make the connections at the boxes and at the panel. I've done residential phone line installs before, back when I was finishing basements in Michigan. But this is my first experience with a multi-line commercial install, so there's a learning curve. I think I have it under control, but we'll find out Monday after the phone company has brought the service into the building. Let's hope there's a dial tone, huh?

I mailed in my ballot today. How come I'm still getting political ads on my TV?

They're opening a new charter school in the west valley next fall. From the reports I'm hearing they may as well name it Pathway Charter School, because just about every kid from church old enough to attend school is going to be there. (And that's a lot of kids!) I think it's very cool that these kids will see their friends at church on Sunday and at school during the week. My best friend, Roger Fosse, was like that - school and church. Among other advantages it means accountability, especially in the teen years. Having someone from church seeing your behavior at school can be the difference maker. I know Roger kept me from going all party during H.S.

I haven't followed it closely, but is it fair to say the charter school movement is a grass roots reaction against standard public schools? Local control, no unions, accountability for both teachers and students....
So why do we need a federal dept. of education?

And what the citizens of Washington D.C. did re. Michelle Rhee is Exhibit One in the argument that the majority can just as easily be idiots.

Sunday we introduce the series that will officially start next week - the Seven Churches of Rev. 2-3. We'll be talking, among other things, about the difference between being spiritually mature and spiritual. Key distinction.
The plan is to do 50 miles in the morning, plenty of time to preach it through and pray it up.
