When I'm feeling down, I like to whistle. It makes the neighbor's dog run to the end of his chain and gag himself.

I got the first two courses done today. This morning, after doing some church stuff, I laid the first course which sits on dirt. I used some from what I took out, packed it tight and level and then set the blocks down, checking every block for level. Then I mixed a bag of mortar and laid the second course.
I wouldn't normally lay block; there's a skill to the process that I don't have. However, with the exception of the top course the outside will be supported by (back-filled) dirt and the inside by water. And the inside & outside of that top course will get a coat of stucco so irregularities will be covered up.
That said, I decided doing even this much gave me a new proverb:
Enthusiasm is no substitute for skill.

Did you see the footage of the fight in yesterday's Texans vs. Titans game? It was like a hockey game except these guys got fined. And Finnegan got his clock cleaned.

Here's a site with clever motorcycle helmets and ping pong paddles.
Yeah, I don't get the connection either.

It's been a month and I charged the Kindle this morning. The battery icon showed it was still only half way down but it was a convenient time.
I like the Kindle!

Jack and I ran together this morning. He runs differently from Al.
Al was a power runner, head down, powering along. Jack runs with a spring, like he's having the greatest fun ever. It's the difference between a running back and a wide receiver.
I started right off training Jack on our walks to stop and stand on my verbal command and wait until I gave the "OK" command to begin walking with me again. He picked up on that very quickly. And as we ran this morning he occasionally looked up at me to make sure he was OK. We had fun.

Never mind making laws, turns out diplomacy is the real sausage factory of government. But
I wonder if there won't be something of a backlash in the U.S. against Wikileaks. It's a little like mothers. It's one thing for a son or daughter to criticize her, but others cross the line if they do. Having a foreigner make our government look bad crosses that line and the result may be a certain sympathy for govt. officials acting badly.
But how in the world does a PFC have access to official communications from the CIA, the State Department and overseas embassies? Either there's another source or something is seriously wrong with our cyber-security.

Paperwork to do before bedtime. But no worries, it's nothing that can't be done to MNF.
