Homonymns are a reel waist of thyme.

This pic is of the aircraft carrier The Ronald Reagan, taken on what would have been the former President's 100th birthday. Click to see it in greater detail; those are sailors on the deck.

Talked to my dad a little bit ago. He sounds much better and the plan to walk to the dining room for dinner tonight (mom uses her walker). That's a trip he could not have made two days ago. I was relieved to hear the energy back in his voice.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the twins at Pathway. Here's a pic of them at their pre-school Christmas program. Bryn and Macy are 4. Now tell me - are these not the two most adorable girls you've ever seen?
Note: if you click to enlarge they'll still be tiny little things.

We're in for a major change in the weather. Yesterday we hit 81 and tomorrow's high will reach 61. We're also expecting rain, "up to 1/4" in some areas." Wow!
As a native of Seattle I'm always surprised at the news value of a rain shower.

We purchased a power amp to give us better sound in the cafeteria, a bigger room than what we had at The Wigwam. This morning I went to Goodwill and bought a hard side suitcase, and from there to JoAnne's Fabric to get the foam. A couple of hours working in the garage and the result is an easy-to-carry and safe travel case for this surprisingly heavy and fragile piece of equipment.

I will not be going back to JoAnne's under anything but the most extreme circumstances. I'd rather spend an entire day in Hobby Lobby than 20 minutes at JoAnne's. Besides the estrogen saturated atmosphere the store is designed for people who already know how the place works.
How was I supposed to know I needed something called a "cut slip" for two pieces of foam off the rack? Or that I needed to take a number to get anyone to acknowledge me at the cutting table? From there I went up to a cashier with no one else within 20 feet. "Actually, sir, you need to go through the line." Uhm...what line? There are no signs to tell me that I was supposed to approach her via an aisle that starts on the other side of the store. It's not that anyone was in that aisle; the point seemed to be that I hadn't walked it. But in what she clearly saw as an expression of great magnanimity she rang me up anyway.

I wonder if people who come to church for the first time feel the same way? Do they feel like strangers in a land where everyone else knows the rites and rituals and looks down on them for their ignorance? I sure hope Pathway isn't anything like JoAnne's.

I commend you for braving JoAnn! I hope you used a coupon! Did you know they take competitors' coupons?

JoAnn's is my mom's favorite store in world. When she was here visiting from MI she had to go find a JoAnn's, just to see if "they're the same as they are back home."

Craft heathen.

Seriously, though, that's a great analogy. I once was a bridesmaid in a Catholic wedding. I didn't know *what* I was doing, until one of the other bridesmaids took me under her wing.
