I'm eager for the DirectTV guy to come tomorrow morning so I can see things in HD. I also need to get the adapter that will allow me to run the TV sound through our sound system. It's a very modest system but it's better than the two 10w speakers built into the TV.
I drove 40 minutes across town to one of two nurseries I could find here that sells roses. The plan was to ask questions and learn more about growing roses in these extreme conditions. I'd read that January is the month to plant bare roots so I've got time. Or not. Turns out they plant their bare roots in 2-gallon plastic pots as soon as they arrive to keep them healthy and increase their survival rate. And NOW is the time to plant them. I came home with 7 roses and a dozen bearded irises. All the iris are planted but I only got two of the roses in. Ran out of steam. I'll try to get the rest in the ground before the storm hits tomorrow, early afternoon. They were very helpful and helped me pick out floribunda that will do well in direct sun. But I think I'll still go to their free rose classes on Saturday mornings beginning Jan 8.

According to the headline Elton John and his husband are now parents. Forgive my ignorance, but if David Furnish, Elton John's partner, is the husband, what is John? I'm assuming he's not a husband or they wouldn't have written the headline that way. They could have written, "Elton John and his partner are now parents."
And if I remember correctly, Ellen DeGeneres has a wife. Same question.
I ordered a book from Amazon. I gave away over half of my library when we left MI because I didn't expect to be back in the ministry, so I need to rebuild it. But this is a book I didn't even have back in the day. It's referred to as TWOT - The Theological Wordbook of the O.T. An outstanding resource for more detailed info on key Hebrew words in the OT. It should be here by the end of the week. Maybe sooner.
You gotta understand; for a preacher good study books are like chocolate potato chips.
I'm really tired of those expanding banner ads at the top of web sites. Some shrink and some don't. Those that do seem to know when I've scrolled down the page, so that as soon as I start reading the text disappears up the page. Grrrr.

I went to high school with a bearded Iris, she was the only girl that would square dance with me in P.E. - I guess, then, it was more of a line dance.
I think they're both husbands in the case of Elton, and both wives in the case of Ellen. Just like I could say, "She's my sister," about my sister, and vice versa.
Be prepared for the possibility that the sound from the speakers attached to your system don't sync with the sound from the plasma TV via the digital satellite signal. You'll silence the TV speakers but the lip movement won't match tha audio. Sometimes it is minimal, sometimes 1 second or more. Maybe your receiver is newer and the processor will allow it to sync up.
My Dad would've loved that clip. = )
