Random minor miscellany:
- As of earlier this month it is now, for the first time, legal to buy certain fireworks in the state of AZ. It is, however, illegal to actually use any of them in almost every city in AZ. So, you can buy fireworks at dozens of locations in the city of Phoenix, including several chains of grocery stores. But if you actually set them off in Phoenix you'll get a fine of up to $2,500 and six months in jail.
- The optical audio cable arrived today and is now in service. Fiber optics with a (infra?) red light coming out of the back of the TV, through the cable and into my receiver. Go figure.
- I've got $10 says you can't watch this without laughing out loud.
- I can't remember the last time I wore a suit. Part of me misses that - getting dressed to the nines. I still have one but I don't know if it fits, or if it's way out of style. It doesn't matter in Phoenix. Funerals mean socks.
- I'm not sure I know the difference between New Year's resolutions and goals. I have the latter but not really any of the former. Unless their the same thing. Then I do.
- Today I learned what a #hashtag is. I hope to never need one. A road down which I don't want to go.
- We have a county supervisor here who is divorcing his wife of 28 years. She's 48. He learned as a result of her arrest that for the last several years she's had an "inappropriate relationship" with a boy who was 13 when it began. Yesterday they arrested the supervisor's daughter, who is 21. She's also had a relationship with the boy, still a minor. Mother and daughter were each apparently unaware of the others' activities. If this was a movie nobody would think it even possible.
