Dad takes his daughter and her friends to a Jonas Brothers concert.Regis Philbin is retiring. I'm available.
Pam gets Good Housekeeping and has the most recent issue laying on the floor next to her chair. There's a blond lady on the cover, but I don't know whom. They're like SUV's; they all look alike.
I said to Pam, "The Chinese president is here for a visit."
But she doesn't follow the news much so she couldn't respond with the definitive line.
Comcast now owns that small portion of the media universe not already belonging to Steve Jobs.
I found a channel on DirectTV way up in the 700's that shows six Australian Open tennis matches at once, tiled three-over-three. Move the cursor over one and I get the audio from that match. Hit "Select" and I get that match in full screen format. This is like heaven if you're ADD.

Last night I accepted an invitation to speak at the Sr. High week of a multi-church camp in the Seattle area this summer. I'm told there will be between 60 and 80 kids in 9th through 12th grade, and I'll have a total of nine sessions. I'm allotted 50 minutes in each session although I don't have to use all that time.
The youth pastor on the other end of the phone asked if I was scared by H.S. students. I lied.
I feel both honored and anxious about the prospects. I have until late July to get all the preparations done and I'll use every bit of it. Lecturing is obviously inappropriate, but I am a teacher to my core so it would be pointless to try to be anything else. I'll try to combine teaching in the standard format with break-out sessions, role playing activities, and whatever else I can come up with that fits the topic and will (I hope) be effective. No gimmicks for gimmicks' sake.
I'm planning on working through Imago Dei and some of it's implications. Very relevant to all of us, esp. the adolescent and post-adolescent experience, IMHO.
I think I've lived in suspended disbelief for as long as possible. Based on the latest from Sports Illustrated (sneak peek online) Lance Armstrong is dirty. If (when?) the Feds have a case beyond reasonable doubt, which seems more and more likely, it will be sadder than any of the other disgraced athletes both because his accomplishments were more impressive and his efforts on behalf of cancer research so remarkable. I won't prejudge, but every year it seems we get another reminder that human arrogance knows no bounds.
bummer.

Craig,
Go to channel 205, same tiled format, but different content.

I think you'll do a great job with the high school crowd. When you were my professor, I was only a few months older than some in that age group. I got so much out of your classes. They'll really appreciate what you have to say, mostly because I don't think you'd be one to talk down to them.
We'd still love to get you up to Northern as a speaker sometime. = )
