Awww.The bulb base on a contemporary car light bulb - tail light, backup light, etc. - has a diameter smaller than a similar bulb 44 years ago. Who knew? I discovered that today, and when I shimmed up the bulb base with a couple of strands of copper wire and put it back in the socket I got LIGHT out of Gerta's new backup lights. But I got that illumination by running a jumper wire to the hot side of the coil. When Pam can help I'll have her check to see if they come on when I put the car in reverse. If not it means there's also a problem somewhere else, probably the switch on the tranny case.
Call me biased but this was my favorite Super Bowl commercial. I realize anticipation will undoubtedly exceed realization but I'm still curious to see what they've got.
While we're on the topic of commercials, you've undoubtedly seen those McDonald's ads with the couple sitting in a booth working their hands in unison as part of the pitch for Mickey D's coffee. Maybe I'm the last person on earth to learn that's a whole big deal called "hand dancing."
Here's an impressive example.
Go ahead, try this at home.
Pathway Bible Church meets in the cafeteria at Litchfield Elementary School.
We have important friends from Prunedale, CA where I pastored in the late 70's and early 80's, Danny & Candy Boss. I learned today that Candy's dad was stationed here at Luke Air Force Base and she attended Litchfield Elementary School during 4th grade, way back in 19...... Oh wait, I probably shouldn't share that piece of information.
We're hoping they'll come to visit so she can worship with us in that same cafeteria before it's torn down later this summer.
Did you see the clip of Pres. Bush (the first) getting his Medal of Honor today? The CBS version showed him being helped into the room. I had no idea he is that fragile, has that much difficulty walking.
He's a good man. So humble and gracious.
This Sunday, Deo Volente, we'll project lyrics onto a screen. And sermon data. AND Foundations data in the second hour. Just in case, we'll also have the lyrics in the bulletin as we have since day one. I won't have any way to test font size, the visible area of the slide and the like until 45 minutes before the service starts when the school is unlocked. So this first Sunday is one of low expectations. But I am REALLY looking forward to heads looking up as they sing, not down into bulletins and the ability to project some Scripture verses (not all! We'll still, "turn in your Bible to..."). Maps, time lines, key words and more.
Technology can get in the way but I'm no Luddite and data projection is a boon, IMHO.

We usually found that 36 to 40 point Arial font was adequate when we used a projector for songs.
