Rode 19 miles up the hill and back at an avg. speed of 18 mph. Mid-season form at the end of February. Now if I could just learn to stick a 7 iron.
I got the music for next Sunday done, including the slides made. Listening to the songs repeatedly during that process almost always takes me from task to worship. Some good words on tap for our service.
The TV ad for a local flooring company says they don't use any tricks or gimmicks, just great flooring at a great price. Oh, and installation is always free.
So...they found installers who work without pay?
This is fun, but there's a significant amount of bogocity here, too. He makes it sound like the internal combustion engine is a polluting pig while his car is both faster and emissions free. That's true if you don't count the mining of the batteries' raw materials, including nickel. Oh yeah, then there's the electricity that gets pumped into them with every recharging. That electricity doesn't come free, either economically or environmentally. I don't know about his source but most of our electricity comes from coal fired power plants, the most polluting of the several types.
Hydrogen powered vehicles, on the other hand....
Well, check out Jay Leno's description.
Interestingly, Pres. Obama's proposed budget cuts all research and development funding for hydrogen powered vehicles and increases money for electric vehicles.
I just checked. There's one bid on that XS1100 Special, at the entry price of $975. Almost exactly 24 hours left. I gave Pam every opportunity to change her mind but she's holding firm.
Some readers will remember the gas crisis of 1979, when Jimmy Carter was President. In a typical Carter-esque stroke of genius he issued an executive order that speedometers couldn't show a top speed higher than 80 mph. That would keep people from driving fast and wasting gas. (Hard to believe he was a one-term President.) Accordingly, the 1980 XS100 Special pegs at 80. Accordingly, I have no idea how fast I went on mine.
In fact, technically I'm pretty sure it can be said I never went faster than 80 mph.
I gave Jack a bath this afternoon. He just stands there, placid as can be.
Because he often ends up standing in his own puddle of pee (he has an enormous bladder that he empties twice a day) I picked up his feet one at a time and washed the bottoms with the brush. No reaction at all.
Hope to fix a garage door opener at a rental tomorrow morning. Can be a frustrating task because it's hard to tell if the problem is electrical, mechanical or a connectivity issue.
Given my track record lately I'm betting connectivity.
Great dog.
