"Hanging is too good for a man who makes puns; he should be drawn and quoted." - Fred Allen

The only good cat is a dead cat. This comes in a close second.

For those of you who have expressed an interest we are going to record second hour for the duration of the 6-week (?) series that begins this Sunday. I'm not sure what we'll do with those audio files; that detail is still being worked out.

I have what has to be THE most patient and indulgent wife in the world.
With her blessing I'm driving 40 minutes north next Monday to look at a '62 VW Beetle that's mostly pieces in boxes that I naively think can be turned into a fully restored thing of beauty. Well, it can be, the question is can I turn said "project car" into that thing of beauty. Yes, it would mean selling Gerta so I'd have the space and the funds for the project, but it would fulfill a long dream to "build" a car. This would amount to a frame-off restoration, but I save the frame-off step because that's already been done.
I've talked to a couple of guys with experience in restoration projects and they've both encouraged me to go for it. They also have wives gracious beyond measure.

Note: I talked to Khalil by phone this morning and set up the appointment, but by Monday morning it may be sold. So I'm to call at 6:30 a.m. to see if he still has it and/or another '62 he has for sale. Which is to say there's plenty of time for God to graciously save me from myself.

Great conversation today. I visited with Rob & Leslie early this morning at Panera and caught up on things. (He's restoring a really rare and beautiful Pontiac GTO.) Drove over and spent the rest of the morning in two conference sessions, and then did lunch with Pastors Jim & Paul. I had told Jim I wanted to go someplace interesting and he chose a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place where we were the three Anglo Amigos and probably the only English speakers in the joint, with the exception of what I think was the owner who spoke a limited amount of English with a thick accent. But the food was mui bueno! The three of us talked shop until it was time for each of us to go. No check brought to the table, just go up to the cash register where she shook her head at my debit card. "Cash."
None of us had enough.
Paul drove down the street to an ATM while Jim & I talked some more.
Not a bad way to stiff a guy with the check, huh?

Complicated slides for both my message and especially my lesson, but they're about 90% done. Did them over a latte at Mad Cap Cafe downtown, a place that gets rave reviews from everyone who's been there. OK, that latte may have had a bit too much espresso for my wellness, I did get a lot done!

Evening dinner in the cafeteria (the food is every bit as good as I remember) and then the evening session. Back to the Norders for visiting - they're sure good people - and then bed. Just one more sleep and I head home. Long trip. I'll leave at lunchtime so I'll miss the afternoon sessions. Drive back to Detroit for a 6:30 flight to Denver and from there to Phoenix. I think I arrive about 10:30 p.m.

I'm ready to be back home. I've had a great time, been stimulated mentally and blessed both emotionally and spiritually. Now it's time to get back to Pam and Pathway.
