"In China, Bill Gates is Brittney Spears. In America, Brittney Spears is Brittney Spears." T. Friedman

You MUST go take this quiz:
The Guardian: Gaddafi or Sheen
How'd you do?

I did 32 miles today, the longest ride since last November when my long ride was 70 miles. Tonight I feel like that's what I did earlier. Good pace, but distance doesn't come without distance. (There's a sermon illustration in there someplace.)

My mouth really wanted In-n-Out but my body didn't have the energy to drive over there.

On the topic of restaurants, the greater Phoenix area is a haven for one-offs, with every imaginable ethnic food available in an authentic format (incl. American comfort food). One of the things we noticed about Grand Rapids is the dominance of the chain restaurant with food meant for the masses (read: boring and tasteless). Not so, here.

On a bike ride earlier this week I had an idea. When I got home I sent an email to our church list asking for restaurant recommendations - no chains, just one-off, hole in the wall, moderately priced authentic food. I got great response and I've created a list which we'll pass out tomorrow. The hope is that besides finding some great eateries people will use the list to go out for a meal with others from church, especially with someone at Pathway they don't know well.

Because we have so many (!) young families, babysitting is an issue. But I'm working on a plan for that, too.

So if you come for a visit we've got a great list ready. How can you resist a place with a name like "Two Hippies Beach House," "Takamatsu Korean BBQ and Sushi" or "My Mother's Restaurant."

Failed also. Answered 4 out of 10 correct. Disturbing test if you think about it. Two nut cases and I can't tell one from the other!

Eek. I only got two right. I'll stick with spelling tests, thank-you-very-much.
