"A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." - Mark Twain

If you were in Foundations this morning you can't play. For the rest of you, what are these men doing? Click to enlarge, and I will tell you the photo was taken in England in 1911.
(The answer is at the end of this post.)

When somebody “Likes” a politician or, say, a particular broadcaster on Facebook, and that person is real doofus, is it bad form to post “I’m sorry” in the comment box?
Yeah, I figured it was.

Jeremy Clarkson re. the new Surbaru Impreza, “It’s uglier than a war wound.”
(He much prefers the Mitsubishi Evo 10 both for looks and performance.)

During the last Presidential campaign much was made by Obama of the failed foreign policies of Pres. Bush, specifically regime change in Iraq and the prison at Guantanamo Bay. Anybody else notice something a little fishy? So far this weekend the U.S. has dropped 90,000 pounds of bombs and fired 120 missiles against Gadhafi (or however it’s spelled this week). Meanwhile, the President announced a week ago that the prison at Guantanamo will remain open.
Deja vu all over again.

My friend Jen read last Friday's post about my frustrating day and sent me this:
This Is the Stuff
I like it!

Don't worry about the warning. Nothing that will be a problem. PC gone crazy.

Major storm coming tomorrow with some thunderstorms possible in the afternoon.
In the bizarre department, I've made a cover for the lily pond so it won't get rainwater inside. Yeah, I need the pond dry so I can install the liner inside a dry pond when it comes.
I also need the carpet in our bedroom to put underneath the liner. So tomorrow while it's raining outside I'll pull up the carpet and then go to work removing the popcorn from the ceiling. That's more fun than anyone should be allowed to have on a Monday.

It's Sunday night. I'm fried. What else is new.
See you tomorrow evening.

Oh yeah...
Those guys in the picture are making piano rolls. They have a piece of music in front of them and use a stylus to poke the correct holes in the paper of the roll. All day long, day after day after day....
And they had to dress up for that job.
Sort of makes your job look not so bad, huh?

Did you figure that out from looking at the picture? If not, what was your guess?

I couldn't guess. It was too hard to focus through my relief at not having to look at ab-hancer guy anymore.

My guess was that they were copying Chinese characters. The only thing I know about 1911 is it was the end of the Qing dynasty. I don't know *why* anyone would copy Chinese characters simply because a dynasty ended, but it was the only connection I could make.

Turns out *I* needed "This Is the Stuff" today. One of the kids did a major vomit on our good rug this evening. It may not be what I would choose, but this is the stuff You use....
