"It is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, and certainly not desirable, as one's hat keeps blowing off." - Woody Allen

We had our garage sale this morning. It started at 7:00 and people began arriving at 6:20. Normally that disregard for rules would bother me, but as long as they were buying things I learned to adapt. We sold almost $260 worth of junk stuff and opened up a lot of space in the garage and in closets. We also got rid of the old bedroom "furniture."

BTW, here's a pic of the new room sans the Ikea. The ceiling is now smooth and reflects light much better than the old popcorn surface, which in turn makes the room look larger. The wall color doesn't look right here. Since males have a very limited vocabulary for colors I'm going to call it a light beige. And we MUCH prefer wood floors to carpeting. They make more sense here in the desert but they're also cleaner and neater looking IMHO. And more interesting. We learned to like them after living in two 100-year old houses that predated wall-to-wall carpeting. And so, like there, we'll probably eventually add an area rug under the bed.
Why no pic of the room with furniture? Because we still haven't shopped for a bedspread and the accents aren't finished yet either.

Do you know what this is? (It's about 7" tall)
If you can identify it you know that you should never leave your husband to run the garage sale while you go off to a meeting at work, leaving him behind to answer the question, "What's that?"
One man, after getting the answer, said, "I'm sorry I asked."

"Me, too."

We went to TGIFriday's for dinner. I had a kids meal (1/2 rack of ribs & fries), Pam had two sides (grilled shrimp and broccoli), and with two Diet Cokes the ticket was under $20. Such a deal!

The AZ Cards draft a DB in the 1st round instead of one of the highly ranked QB's. Does that mean they think they have a qualified QB already on the roster or are they going to trade for a veteran later?

The plan was to spend last Tuesday doing long-range sermon and lesson planning but details got in the way. With the garage sale done and my sermon written I'm thinking about heading out tomorrow for a few hours. Maybe drive to this coffee shop a few miles north of here - an out of the way place with just the right balance of quiet and activity.
I read an article years ago that encouraged pastors to spend more time "staring out the window." The author said too many pastors spend all their time doing tasks, including studying for and writing sermons & lessons. Staring out the window was his metaphor for thinking about the ministry, looking at the forest instead of walking among the trees. Big picture thinking.
That's hard for those of us who define productivity in terms of tasks completed.

It's a wiffle ball?

Wrong. My wife has never owned a wiffle ball. Although that would have made for a much less embarrassing conversation with the elderly couple from down the street.

Did you say it's a sports cup?

I still think it is highly likely that Matt Hasselbeck will play for Arizona this year.

I'd like to see Hassleback here. The closest I can think of to Kurt Warner. Real quality on and off the field.

I think it's for laundering ladies' delicate (yet supportive) clothing.

Oh, and the room looks great! I love hardwood floors too. = )

You're correct, Jen - supportive delicates. I wish I'd thought of that term when he asked me.
