No post last night. Sunday morning was rough and I was wasted. Matt was out of town but forgot to tell me until Thursday, too late to recruit a sub to lead songs so I added that to my responsibilities for the morning at Pathway. My preaching (first hour) and teaching (second hour) take almost all of the limited focus and energy I can muster; leading the singing pushed me over the edge. We also had five or six families out on summer vacation trips, and as I've commented before, lower numbers mean higher enegy output.
Oh well.
The water in the lily pond is almost crystal clear all the way to the bottom and at the top I'm getting more blossoms. Additional buds can be seen rising to the surface.
I was out in the driveway by 7:30 this morning working on Ilsa - at least a portion thereof. Classic VW's are easy to work on, so while removing 50 years of crud takes a lot of time and elbow grease, getting to it isn't a problem.
Before eating lunch I went to four different vendors on line and got everything I need to replace all the parts in the brake system. Everything from the backside of the pedal out will be brand spanking new. I also ordered new OEM shocks and chassis paint.
When will politicians learn that anything they do online is permanent and traceable? And that the press is like a pit bull; once they grab on they don't let go. Don't even try to lie your way out of it.
And if your name is Rep. Anthony Weiner why in the world would you email pictures of...???
The governor in Florida is in trouble with the state's democrats and the ACLU for signing a bill that requires welfare recipients in that state to pass a drug test before receiving benefits. They're expected to take legal action to stop implementation on July 1. Note: if the otherwise eligible recipient fails the drug test they can designate another adult to receive funds for dependent children.
The National Labor Relations Board is scheduled to hear a complaint, backed by Washington Democrats, against Boeing. It involves a plant the company built in South Carolina, a right-to-work state. Boeing wants to build some of their 787's there in addition to the company plant in Washington which has been plagued by strikes. The NLRB is controlled by Democratic appointees. So far the President has refused to take a position on the matter maintaining that the NLRB is an independent agency that should be allowed to do its work.
In the run up to the next elections these kinds of issues may not sit well with an electorate struggling with high unemployment and a govt. that spends money without discretion.
