"In great affairs men show themselves as they wish to be seen; in small things they show themselves as they are." - Nicholas Chamfort

Last night I met Steve for pizza. His wife is back in MI and mine was working. By the time I got home I lacked the mental energy to post anything. Long day. A good portion of the afternoon was spent at Kinneys' replacing leaking copper water lines. Here's a pic of the worst of the two:

That pipe had been leaking for a long time! It and its hot water partner were tucked away under a cabinet that meant standing on my head for the work. I want to personally thank whoever invented the Shark Bite system for joining pipes - copper, Pex, PVC - without sweat fitting or gluing. Indispensable for repairs like this.

The President says the War Powers Act doesn't apply because we don't have ground troupes involved in the Libya action. We have planes dropping bombs but that doesn't count as a hostile action.

A house's exterior doors are almost vestigial organs, useless remnants of a bygone era. The suburb brought attached garages, and then somebody invented the garage door opener. Now almost everyone pulls directly into the garage and goes from there into the kitchen. The back door has been replaced by slider to the patio. If it weren't for the Jehovah's Witnesses most of us would almost never open the front door.

Check out this very short video:

Thing is, it's bogus, a Gillete ad. Several other firms are using these viral-looking video blasts that subliminally push their product. Watch it again and look for the clues.
Which doesn't answer the real question: How do they do that???

Eager to go camping next month. The coast of Oregon is unparalleled in its beauty, IMHO, with forests, sandy beaches, tide pools, lakes, cliffs... And the peace of an isolated tent spot is great medicine for the soul. Our first stop, Fort Stevens State Park, doesn't provide that kind of camp site but the surroundings are still outstanding and nearby Astoria has some very cool stuff to see and do. From there to Sunset Bay State Park down by Coos Bay, a very small park with tent-only sites.

Tomorrow after lunch the plan is to drive out to Buckeye and see the progress on Ilsa's paint job. Pics tomorrow night?
