Need an ark? I Noah guy.

We're going out for dinner tonight to celebrate our anniversary. Going to a real restaurant! The kind with menus you hold in your hands, and silverware, and cloth napkins. Can't remember the last time we did that.
(We have a gift card.)

The stock market tanked today. It will recover tomorrow or the day after, certainly by the end of the week. It bounces like a yo-yo and the people with big bucks know that. A one-day drop of 630 points means bargains everywhere and a massive sell-off means corresponding buying is just around the corner. All the melodrama over today's drop is over playing it and everyone knows it.

I got Ilsa's left front wheel buttoned up this morning. I naively thought I'd get both front wheels done but I struggled with several steps. It took me 30 minutes to get the grease seal out, cleaning and packing ball bearings is a hassle, and the new pinch nuts are two big for the normal tightening procedure. Now that I've been over the learning curve the right side should go more quickly.

Consider the subtle but, IMHO, important implication of this lyric:
"God is on our side."
Yesterday at Pathway we looked at the last section of the Lord's Prayer: "For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
God is bigger than we are.
We noted that all believers understand that from a theological perspective but in daily life we too often fail to live out our theology. We are too naturally self-centered.
This afternoon I spent time listening to Christian music in search of new songs we can use at Pathway. I was struck by the lyric, "God is on our side." I understand the sentiment, but especially after yesterday I wonder if it doesn't betray that egocentrism.

On a related note, I discovered "Shout Your Fame" by Hillsong (check it out on iTunes). Yes!! We're going to learn it this Sunday. It's exactly the kind of song they would have been ALL OVER at camp and the words are good. I can see those kids dancing their hearts out on this one. Wish I could get them all to come to Pathway this Sunday to give us a lesson on energetic worship as we sing it.
