Who knew they played leapfrog?
I had a busy day and things are going to heat up soon.
Tomorrow after church I'll drive out to Buckeye to see the progress on Ilsa's body. Pictures tomorrow night, D.V.
Steve called late this afternoon and the engine is ready. I'll go to the bank Monday morning and from there down to pick it up. Bring it home, put it back on the engine stand and get to work reassembling all the pieces and parts.
This morning I worked for about two hours on the 6v to 12v conversion. It involves a different generator, but the way VW designed things it's not a simple bolt-off-bolt-on operation. The generator is mounted to the fan which, in turn, mounts inside the fan shroud. A 12v generator is bigger than a 6v so several things have to be changed to get it all back together. I quit before I had the generator pulley installed because I was losing my focus. Couldn't get the Woodruff key to fit correctly. I'll go at it with a file, but not today.
Tomorrow night's Eagles/Hawks game is gonna be good. No Frazier on our TV!
Collateral damage. Selfishness leads to sin and sin exacts its certain toll. But the worst part is the people who live within range, who weren't participants but who suffer for the sins of others. It seems like sometimes they suffer more than the offender.
I think the cow that jumped over the moon was sacred, and it was funded by NASA.
Why are we spending Billions of dollars on space exploration when we are so far in debt down here? NASA just announced the completion of a key step in the assembly of the Webb Telescope which is scheduled for launch in 2018. Projected cost: $8.7 billion. A year ago the estimated cost was just over $5 billion, so we can only guess what it will be by lift-off. And that's just one of the projects currently being funded. NASA's currently funded at $18.7 billion per year. And for all this money we get...what?
Yesterday a news story announced they've found an earth way out there that revolves around two suns. Well that's exciting! I'm sure finding that earth is a lot more worthwhile than the schools and bridges the President wants money to build. And those people who need extended unemployment benefits would certainly agree that another space telescope is a more worthy way to spend that money.
I watched The Chris Matthews Show tonight and he showed a clip of Ronald Reagan on the Johnny Carson Show. This was during his first (unsuccessful) run for the Presidency. Carson asked him how we could reduce the deficit (yeah, we had one then, too) and Reagan replied, "It's a lot like keeping your virginity. You just have to learn to say 'No.'"
The problem, of course, is that all those billions spent finding far way planets and stars get spent in the districts of Congressmen and Senators who receive campaign funds from lobbyists employed by the recipients of those funds.
And around and around it goes.
