Miscellany
- Will Herb Caine's victory in Florida's straw poll shake things up? Is Chris Christie listening?
- We hit 107 today, 10 degrees hotter than we should be this time of year. More of the same on the way.
- Got the intake manifold and generator stand installed this morning. It's starting to look like an engine again.
- I know why footboards fell out of fashion. Changing the bedding is a real hassle.
- Kirk Gibson for Manager of the Year. This is his first year as skipper of the Diamondbacks and they've moved from the NLWest cellar to the Division title during that time.
- Diana Nyad is a year older than I and she's swimming from Cuba to Florida.
On the days she doesn't work Pam has been taking Jack to the dog park a couple of miles from our house. When he saw her getting her keys out this morning he got so excited he 'bout came out of his skin. So after she left for work I took him over. He can still RUN! A fairly young German Shepherd ran with him for about the first 20 yards and then gave up. The fenced area is only about 100 yards long, so Jack's biggest problem is that he has to start putting on the brakes about 70 yards out, and that only takes him a few strides. I wish I could have seen him race.
I made my own sandwich for lunch and reheated leftover pizza for dinner. I'm feeling so... culinary.
We watched "Harry's Law" because we got hooked on it last year, the show's first season. It's rebroadcast Saturday nights across from "Person of Interest" so I watched that. Wow! Good show, at least this first episode. Lots of new shows fizzle quickly and this one may, too. But it definitely has promise.
I'm feeling a bit concerned about tomorrow.
"We have this treasure in jars of clay to prove that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us." - Paul.
