Roses are red, violets are blue. I hate rhyming, zebra.
Serena Williams got fined $2,000 for berating the umpire at yesterday's women's final match at the U.S. Open, a rant that included, "I hate you." She made $1.4 million in prize and appearance money for finishing second in that tournament, so a $2k fine is really going to get her attention. (Note: she's a repeat offender who threatened great bodily harm to a line ref at this tournament two years ago.)
And while we're talking fines, the NBA fined Michael Jordan, owner of the Charlotte Bobcats for making public comments about basketball during the lockout. In an interview he said the league should implement a revenue sharing program similar to what baseball has. Commissioner Stern had instituted a gag rule for owners and coaches during the strike.
Jordan's ticket? $100,000. He antes that much in a poker game every Tuesday night.
Two weeks ago today I took the engine to Steve at VW Performance. He said it would take two weeks, and if I didn't hear from him I should call. I'll wait until Wednesday. I'll have lots of work to do when I get it. I'll have to put all the pieces back on - the carb, fuel pump, generator, etc. - and each of those has to be just so before they're installed. The conversion from 6v to 12v is part of this process. Eventually I'll get in and turn the key for the first time. I'd really like it to start, and doing each of these steps properly is essential to that outcome.
If it actually starts I will be SO surprised.
A woman here is in jail charged with attempted murder and a pile of related charges. She tried to kill her ex-boyfriend and father of her child with a meat cleaver.
But wait. There's more.
They lived together... with another of her exes who was also the father of a child living at the house. The guy who got slashed was trying to break up a fight between the woman and ex #2 when she got angry at him and swung with the cleaver. Fortunately she's a lousy aim. He's going to be OK, at least in regard to the wound on his throat. There is no cure for stupid.
I finished the draft of that article today. The last part required lots of digging. That's one of the few things I do where I lose track of time. Almost anything else and my ADD gets antsy pretty quickly. For some reason studying holds my attention, and the more complex the better.
Did you know the Apostle Paul only uses the word Sabbath one time in all his letters?
