"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level." - Quentin Crisp
I had an interesting day.
Dr. Sam talked to us about missions and compassion for others. What he didn't know is that his message was the perfect setup for a service opportunity we talked about second hour.
After that brief conversation we continued our OT survey with a look at the exodus and Passover meal that preceded it.
We went to lunch at Chipotle with Sam and then I drove out to see Pat and Ilsa. I'm to call him next Saturday to verify, but he hopes to have the wheels painted and ready for pickup next Sunday. Once I have them in hand and tires mounted I'll have a "rolling chassis." That's one of those milestones in a restoration because it allows me to move the chassis in and out of the garage, and makes the test fire of the engine a little easier to pull off.
Going into this week's fantasy football matchup I was a 20 point favorite. At this point on Sunday night I'm down by 30 points.
And the D'backs lost again.
Which may explain why my stomach is all out of sorts. Blech! I came home from Pat's out in Tonopah and went to bed for an hour. I'll be back there soon, and it better solve the problem because my to-do list for tomorrow is a long one.
I've started preparing myself for next Sunday.
School here starts the first of August and by early October the kids and teachers are ready for a break. So all the public and private schools take what's called "Fall Break" for a week, similar to Spring Break elsewhere. Based on early info we'll have something between six and eight people at church next Sunday. The rest of the families will be out of town. We were going down the list at lunch and it got almost funny.
Maybe we'll put chairs in a circle, hold hands and sing Kumbaya.
Note: I do NOT begrudge anyone the opportunity to get away, especially from the hectic pace that characterizes life for these young families. I'm thankful they can and do.
I'm done. See you tomorrow.

I'm ready for a break too, but we're only on week five.
